7 train extension still not open

From AM-NY:

The No. 7 train will finally begin running on the far West Side in September, the MTA said Monday.

A new, $2.4 billion subway stop on 34th Street and 11th Avenue will open by Sept. 13, officials said. It could open earlier that month, but is unlikely to open in August.

The city-funded extension from the Times Square station was set originally to open in December 2013. Former Mayor Bloomberg took a ceremonial subway run to 11th Avenue that month, but the station's opening has been snagged for years.

And the Second Avenue subway will not open until 2032. China built 3 major subway systems all within 10 years!

Extend the 7 to Parsons and Northern.

I can't stand this extension as well as the damn 2 ave line.

The one line that truly deserve restoration is still the abandoned rockaway line that crosses through rego park, woodhaven and ozone park.

I am not surprised.

Anon No. 2: That's like extending the subway one stop, a mistake that the MTA and the city made at the other end of the line. If you're going to tear up a lot of streets to do something like this, maximize the number of people who will benefit and extend the line further.

And why just Parsons and Northern?

Extend the #7 to Parsons and Northern? For what?
Spend millions to serve just a few? Take the bus! Some folks are so lazy.
You could move closer to downtown Flushing, if you dare, if you want a more seamless commute.

Parsons and Northern sounds like a great idea for the extension. Also we need that rail line the x line that the city never came up with to go from the Bronx into Queens and end in Brooklyn.

But who in that part of Queens benefits by a one stop extension? Why not go further?
