Bogus parking permits at housing projects
From
NBC:
As the de Blasio administration seeks to raise parking rates in the lots next to public housing towers, an I-Team investigation finds vehicle owners are frequently parking for free, using borrowed permits, expired permits or no permits at all.
Over the course of three weeks, the I-Team paid multiple visits to five New York Public Housing Authority lots that were previously cited for fraudulent parking practices in a 2012 City Department of Investigation probe.
The I-Team found free riders were at it again, parking without valid permits and getting away with it.

Well they should just tow them away like they do in white neighborhoods.
There is no enforcement of the new parking regulations. I purchased a resident's permit and a visitor's permit for two years. There was usually someone else parked in my spots whenever I tried to use them. the vendor never answered the phone or returned messages. When I called 311 I was told I had to call the local precinct. The local precinct never wanted to be bothered and I did not have the time to wait and see if anyone would come.
It is my belief that NYCHA started the reserved permit system so they can tell the residents that the parking lots are underutilized and therefore need to be sold to developers so NYCHA will have money to make repairs. Of course the repairs will likely never get done but looks of people will make money off it.
TOW THEM TOW THEM but if they are in LONG ISLAND CITY Jimmy our counselman will not like this --
I can't even get an illegal parking space in my neighborhood.
Why anyone who needs heavily subsidized housing needs a parking space for a car is beyond me. Several years ago a friend had a relative who lived in a lower Manhattan project get a permit for friend's new Mercedes. Was no one suspicious that the owner of a new Mercedes was eligible for a parking permit. Friend moved car after a few weeks because of fear of car being stolen/vandalized.
Socialism and the collectivist mind set at work. "Brothers unite -UNITE - you have nothing to lose but your chains!" - Yeah right. So much for brotherly love.
How does someone using public housing also drive a Cadillac Escalade that costs between 70 and 100 thousand dollars?
A solution if anyone REALlY wanted to solve this. Show up on a given day 5 weeks in a row. Ticket and tow all illegally parked cars and fake permits. Make people go out to the police car pound in Whitestone or Staten Island or wherever it is now, pay 500 bucks to get their car back, with all headlights busted and everything stolen from inside, and then let them complain to the cretins who work there so they can get the full effect. Word of mouth would stop the entire problem before the 5 weeks were up.
Knock the projects down and sell the land. Bigger tax base and frees up 1100 cops. Win win.
