Pan Am shelter brings additional crime to Elmhurst

COMET has published stats from the 110 Pct, which include the crimes committed at the Pan Am homeless shelter:

Gee, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want a homeless shelter in their neighborhood. In addition, the residents have complained about bedbugs, which are certainly being distributed to local area schools.

(But if you take the press seriously, then the real problem is Asians with signs about hobos.)

Wel, eventually the trash will kill each other until there's no one left. We just have to hang on until then.

Where's the second image from crappy, it isn't in the link?

One bit from your link was interesting. Crime is DOWN in the area, including the shelter. Exclude the shelter and the drop is more dramatic.

It's from a second report.

Samaritan Village always speaks about the security in the Homeless Depots at the community meetings but no one ever addresses security in the surrounding neighborhoods. Have there been any studies conducted on the effects of a shelter moving in?

Open these shelters in Astoria.

There if you complain, you will be told to shut up or move.

Sounds like most responses to every complaint on Astorians.com. The folks over there just LOVE their food carts, sidewalk cafés and hookah joints. They do however go nuts when Christmas music is played on Steinway Street in December and when someone blasts a radio in their precious Astoria Park.

That is truth about astoria - though we have one here on astoria blvd near jackson hole - has there been an uptick in crime from it?

If not, this might be a good example of how a smaller shelter is better for everyone. Pam Am is a huge building and when you pack that many desperate people in one place nothing good can come of it.

No one wants a radio blasting in any park, ever. Welcome to 2014.

Since when did Queens become the dumping ground for the homeless and its shelters? I guess this is the big push to get rid of the middle class. Who will pay for these shelters when the tax base is gone?

http://newyorkcityguns.com/getting-a-nyc-handgun-permit/

The nation is shifting into a lawless desperate free for all so EVERY citizen should have an effective weapon in the household if they wish. Brooms and dishes won’t restrain these new breeds of violent criminals, terrorists and raging rogue inner city youth (like we seen in St.Louis, Memphis) till the cops arrive.
To top that fact off Obama has ordered DHS to released 1000s of murderers and tens of thousands of brutal criminals from federal detention because the home countries of these savages refuse to take them back regardless of how many individuals they killed. (Mexico and Central America have been cleaning out the jails and sending murderers off like Castro did)
Most are in New York City and California. Should one of these lawless illegal gun & knife toting savages breach your home they WILL take life rather then risk returning to prison. Of course the media been ordered to keep this hush not to anger citizens and impede the current senate seats come the November election .

When is the use of deadly force permissible?
Answer: When someone breaks into your home and has demonstrated their intention to kill YOU or someone else in the house.

If these were so great, de Blasio would've put one in Park Slope that way his son who can't even shovel the sidewalk halfway decently can live there where he grows up.

Ned, it's getting old.

Why isnt Jimmy No Brainer put one in his community - right next to the million dolla Choc-o-late Factory?

Are those crime #s in the thousands?

3 cases of harassment? Elmhurst should be bragging! Statistics are meaningless with such small #s.

Going from one to two is a 100% increase.

Those numbers are just for homeless shelter, not all of Elmhurst.

The are 675 people in a 125 room hotel, that comes out to more than five people in a room, it seems the shelter people are very well behaved. If I was stuck in one room with my family there would be trouble. I guess this is what is meant by warehousing, it's no way to live.

Unbelievable! Inhabiting these people in the homeless shelter. Get a job and get your act together. This is just disgusting. Why cram people in shelters in a busy and crowded city. Put them somewhere upstate NY. They will do less damage there. It's so typical, I saw one lady with a baby carriage, pregnant with 2 kids coming out of MCDonald's!! Stereotypical but true facts!

And I particularly love to watch the "fathers" walking "their" kids to our wonderful PS 102 on Van Horn, while openly smoking a reefer joint on Kneeland Ave or wrapping the joint as they send the little toddlers to cross Grand Ave by themselves and walk the rest of the way so the "parent" can finish rolling their joint. Should be at W-O-R-K. And the way they talk to the poor tykes--only hope, they get some love in our school.

Mayor open a homeless shelter in Park Slope if you approve of people with no responsibilities who hang out all day and smoke weed outside the hotel, they constantly have firefighters and police officers outside but sure no danger here !
