When I saw a construction fence around this beat-up building at 60th Place and Metropolitan Avenue earlier this year, I figured it was going to be demolished. With R6B zoning and a C2-4 overlay, there's a lot more height that could be added.
But lo and behold, that's not what the owner had in mind. He did a total renovation and the place now looks a lot better than it did before.
It could even pass for a new building. Let's hope something useful moves in!

Yep 10 times better! It looked like it was about to tip over before!
The old Gottleib's Hardware store and it was one of the best in Ridgewood. Jesse was the son of the owner and if he didn't have it he'd find it for you.
It just needs some landscaping to really look great!
Yes, I forgot to mention that when they took the awning down the Gottlieb's sign was visible.
Kudos. And THAT ladies and gentlemen, is how we preserve our neighborhoods.
Beautiful job, they even got the windows, frames and capping right.
