I'm getting reports from Ridgewood to Bayside that the old lever machines that were brought back for this year's elections are not working properly - levers are broken or not registering votes correctly. Let me know if you experience this. Please leave poll site location and description of problem.

The machines are all probably calibrated to cast a vote for DiBlasio no matter who else you vote for.
Anon No. 1: Proof?
Spritz 'em with WD-40.
I had trouble voting. A broken lever voting machine delayed us by about 20 mins. I asked for a paper ballot, and we were denied using paper ballots until election staff could figure out why the voting machine broke down. We were going to use another machine, but then that alternative was disapproved after several officials came and flipped the levers on the side of the original broken machine. Then, voters were allowed to directed to use the "fixed" machine. This all happened at the machine for the 63rd Election District. The polling place was at I.S. 145 Joseph Pulitzer on 34th Ave. and 80th Street. Because I was documenting what happened with my iPhone, an election supervisor called a copy, and after I voted, he detained me and called to see if I had to be taken into custody, just because I was recording this mess on video. I was let go with a warning, and here's my YouTube video of what happened : http://youtu.be/JHh2Z8-5-DQ
Good job, Louis! Send the YouTube link to all the local media i.e WABC, WNBC, WCBS, WNYW etc.
I see Louis' problem. The machine couldn't process the John Liu vote. Then again, who could blame it?
Since when is it illegal to record video in a polling place (as long as you're not recording someone actually cast their vote?
If it were, we wouldn't see all those politicians on TV coming out of the voting booths.
Those old machines are junk. Don't go being romantic about the good old days that never were
WNYC public radio is also collecting and documenting problems/issues at polling places. Louis can submit his information here.
Could not vote for Republican at PS 196 in Forest Hills.
Machine would not let you.
Why can't we just vote at home on our computers? No one is checking to insure that we are who we say we are. ID checks should be mandatory.
We can't vote via the internet because it would be more difficult to steal an election. Paper is easy to manipulate - computers require expertise!
Cant vote Republican at PS 130 Bayside Lever would only move about 1 inch.
Had to wait 1/2 hour on line for a working machine...no paper ballets, all idiots working.
Call NYPIRG to log your voting complaint at 212-822-0282!
Just to see if I could. I voted twice today. No problem I used the name below mind the 2nd time,
What a joke voting is. If this wasn't so serious it might be funny.
We were at P.S. 41 at 6:00 a.m. Both of our names not on the voter list. We each had to submit an affidavit. Process could have been smoother.
They asked my husband for his voter card at PS305 in Ridgewood. That's never happened before. Then the machine needed to be repaired because the levers didn't work.

You schmucks still think we have a democracy! Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!
F_ing joke.
It's like going to Disneyland.
When was the last time they changed the row battery's for the solenoids and backup battery's on these machines and who did the work, serial numbers, battery order & date codes and battery serial numbers please ? (just like the parking & Muni meters)
It seem if you select to many buttons on 1 single row they cant "kick-over" full cycle and jam.
--And who can guess what row has had the problems ?
Who were the idiots that vited for Avella ???? He dropped out of the race 2 months ago. You wasted your votes...jerks!
You should all tear up your voter registration cards and move to Somalia.
What does it matter? Even with his votes going to Vallone, Katz still wins.
District 19 also apparently wants an Astoriafication.
Amazingly stupid voters.
Anon no. 14: If you really did this, I suggest that you contact someone in law enforcement to let them know that voter fraud was committed.
They asked for my ID at my election poll and told them I would not give it to them and that unless next to my name has "ID required" they are not allowed by law in New York to ask for ID. I voted, plan and simple.
Also I do not think it was a waste to vote for Tony Avella. Even though Everly Brown was the third candidate and he did not really have a chance, your choice was between one douchebag and another douchebag, so what is the big deal, he is on the ballot and if he did get enough votes (which of course he never would have) he would have won.
The majority of New York voters are stupid---especially in Queens. Its always been that way since around 1965.
Its also appears to be a contagious disease looking at all them wasted Avella votes
Let me explain one more time for those of you too dense to get it: Vallone's 33 percent plus Avella's 9 percent = 42 percent. Katz got 44 percent. Not voting for Avella wouldn't have changed the outcome.
The person with vendata re Avella will never get it. Sounds like a an anger problem, perhaps even a Vallone.
Have been a Democratie voter all my long voting life but I am now thinking of voting Republican in this instance. After all I happen to know Katz is really a Repubican and perhaps we will get an honest one.
Shame on all of you for pulling switches and not writing in. It takes less than 500 votes to turn a council election on its ear. You get what you deserve.
