$100M in city tax money to fund Wilpons' scheme

NYCEDC has published the agenda of its Executive Committee meeting, to be held today (Dec. 19).

The agenda includes a topic entitled "Willets Point Predevelopment funding agreement" which is
"to provide funds to a joint venture between Related Willets, LLC and Sterling Willets, LLC, or an affiliated entity, to partially reimburse predevelopment costs associated with the development of a site in Willets Point."
"Amount to be approved: Up to $5,000,000.00."

"NYCEDC proposes to enter into the Funding Agreement to reimburse up to $5,000,000.00 of approximately $14,800,000.00 of estimated total budgeted predevelopment costs."
So, $5,000,000.00, for now. But according to the meeting agenda, there'll be more:
"It is anticipated that NYCEDC will enter into one or more funding agreements of up to $94,990,000.00 in the future to reimburse development costs of Phases 1A and 1B. NYCEDC will seek authorization from the Executive Committee at that time."
Is it standard operating procedure for NYCEDC or the City to reimburse developers' costs in this way? Why should city residents pay the Wilpons and Related a dime, especially since they are getting free land?

City Comptroller John Liu, why did you approve city funding of NYCEDC earlier this month, if this is how they plan to spend OUR tax money?

Public Advocate Bill DeBlasio, why are you staying silent about how the public you represent is being ripped off by billionaires?

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, why do you approve of hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate welfare?

"NEVER STEAL ANYTHING SMALL"!

When Bloomberg/NYC participates in theft,
you can be sure that it is on a very grand scale!

Taxpayers' purses will be cut to fund the avaricious Wilpons' scheme to defraud New Yorkers!

Claire Shulman belongs in jail for her complicity in this Willets Point boondoggle.

Fining her about $50,000 for illegal lobbying IS NOT enough.

An example must be made of our shady officials.

HANG 'EM OUT TO DRY!

The Mets generally play like crap anyway, so they deserve a junkyard staring them in the face, right across the road!

The solution is very simple.

Why go after the mayor or Quinn.

The problem starts in your backyard with your council person. I know, I know, they get funding for trimming your street trees and postage to mail your coffee hours for your civic - but how about growing a backbone people?

A public revulsion city wide against that person who goes from one photo op to the next is the ticket.

If everyone rise up they will crap their pants. If someone doesn't go after them thinking that your outspokenness will be their group's tweeding financial windfall, save your best for those bastards.

We just received news that Claire Shulman and her good friend Wellington Zhou Chen, intend to throw themselves in front of that steamroller in order to halt the project!

They "got religion" at the last minute.

The diminutive Zhou will be easily flattened, but ample Claire will break the damn machine!

How about "growing a backbone" yourself,
and posting your comments under your name?

Your opinions hold more weight that way, old boy!
Or are you afraid to do so?

So the MLS deal, was its distraction so that everyone would shut up and say " oh at least this is not 10 acres" ?

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/blaze-magazine-exclusive-wondering-what-agenda-21-is-read-our-report-on-the-international-land-grab/

"The Agenda 21 plan openly targets private property—which should surprise no one. For more than 35 years, the United Nations has made their stance very clear on the issue of individuals owning land. A report from a 1976 U.N. conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, on human settlements contains lays out the position:

“Land … cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market.

“Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes."

Hiding behind the cloak of anonimity? You're still a tool. People reading the posts and following the links can connect the dots without your nonsensical ranting. Agenda 21 is REAL and has nothing to do with conspiracy theories. Get a life!!!

"Agenda 21, which reportedly means an agenda for the 21st century, is a United Nations program launched in 1992 for the vague purpose of achieving global "sustainable development." Congress never approved Agenda 21, although Presidents Obama, Clinton and George H.W. Bush have all signed Executive Orders implementing it. 178 other world leaders agreed to it in 1992 at the Rio Summit. Since then, the U.N. has mostly bypassed national governments, using Agenda 21’s International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (“ICLEI”) to make agreements directly with local governments. "Agenda 21 is one of those compacts, like Law of the Sea, Kyoto and New START, that are supported by an apologetic administration with a fondness for the redistribution of American power and wealth on a local and global scale.

It fits in perfectly with President Obama's pledge to "fundamentally transform" America, its institutions and its heritage of capitalist freedom.

Agenda 21 has not been ratified by the U.S. Senate, but it may not have to be if in a second Obama term the Environmental Protection Agency pursues it by stealth, as it has other environmental agendas that make war on the free enterprise system and rights we hold dear.

One of those is property rights. "Land ... cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market," Agenda 21 says."

You are so funny. First you anonymously dump on someone else for remaining anonymous. Then, you call someone else a troll and engaging in obsessive thinking. Then, you engage in the usual fringe right-wing tactic of name-calling when confronted. THEN we get a load of sore-loser post-election fringe thinking.

Who says the era of great political humor has passed?

Oh. So it's OK to say, "paranoid fringe right-wing thinking" but when someone gets frustrated that you can't prove your point, you make a big deal about the name calling.

YOU are the exact definition of a troll:

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

Until you explain how Agenda 21 is not real, I stand by my position. However, the rest of us want to learn why hundreds of millions of dollars are going into projects like Willets Point at the expense of property owners and taxpayers.

There's a "Century 21" clothing store that just closed.

Maybe "Agenda 21" will replace it.

Write your own "21" blog and stop loading this one up with chaff.

We'll believe that "Agenda 21" is in full play within the confines of New York City....when you can offer us mathematical proof....as to how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Anon No. 22:

People who keep pushing this "Agenda 21" nonsense are the trolls. I don't have to prove anything; they have to prove it's real, or do more than express paranoid thoughts about President Obama to prove that anything like that would impact on us, Quoting Glenn Beck's ravings (a guy so far out in his opinions that Fox "News" canned him) isn't enough.

I would also like to know what any of this stuff has to do with Willets Point. Someone is doing some ridiculous subject-changing here to further their political agenda, and it would be nice to get this discussion back on topic - a scandalous land grab by private investors.

AGREED...Lt. Col. Kilgore!

Let this guy set up his own blog instead of clogging up this one with his clap-trap off subject monopolizing.

The Wilpons....

ARE STEALING LAND.

Too bad that Fred & Son didn't go bankrupt from their Bernie Madoff investments.

Are the Wilpons TOO BIG to go under?
Let NYC use their powers of eminent domain to throw out the Wilpons! City Field is shitty field!

Move the Mets to Central Park, and leave those WP business owners alone!
