DOB doesn't see anything wrong here

How can DOB state "The Department of Buildings investigated this complaint and determined that no further action was necessary" when as of today, the situation in the photos still exists? I have reported this twice and have gotten the same response. What is wrong with this picture? What does it take to get this situation taken care of?

This is the problem when the city tried to get the heat away from your elected officials and drop you into the twilight zone of dealing with the city agencies.

This should be something your city councilman should be dealing with - pull them away from photo ops, legislation on trivia, and spending time greasing the wheels of city government for their donors.

The DOB continually resolves complaints while conditions still exist. The DOB and our elected officials have failed our communities. Why is the other complaint on this property still active and where was the follow up.

DOB is the worst. A few years ago I noticed the exterior wall of a building in LIC bulging out and reported it to DOB. They saw nothing wrong. I reported it two more times over the next couple of weeks, and got the same response. The same week as my last complaint I was driving past it and saw NYFD out front - it collapsed. What a shock - if only DOB had known!

The Department of Bribes (DOB) rarely can see anything beyond the pay-offs their inspectors palm to look the other way.

What falling sign? It already fell. Case closed.

My favorite: "Address not found" entered on the BIS website under "complaints" for the property....

Don't they have to actually LEAVE the office to cite a business for a violation? That's asking a lot of a DOB inspector...

Super Halal Meat 253-06 Hillside Avenue. It’s been over two years since the Buildings Department issued it’s first of many violations. Not one violation has been corrected and the Buildings Department continues to ignore the quality of life issues this store has created. When will this store have to comply with the many zoning laws they are violating.
Our elected officials tell us there is nothing they can do and the Buildings Department refuses to do their job and protect our community. The property owner knows how to play the game and the city is enabling them by not enforcing the laws.

Joe, I assume you called 311. 311 is notorious for spewing out "case closed" notices. I've complained about noise violations and the 311 notice tells me that the police showed up and not further action was needed. This WHILE the noise is still going on.

Folks, 311 is NOT working. Any main stream news organizations reading this? A major investigation of 311 is in order.

It's just a "sign" of the times!!!

311 is a problem. Another Bloomberg Tax Payer Titanic. Ask how much we have paid for 311 plus expensive tech consultants to advise. Also google CityTime, ECTP 911 Tech system, NYCWiNS, NICE, FDNY Wireless... 311 not worth the $ we continue to pay out - Bloomberg fraud, lies and spin. Call 311 and make a complaint against DOB and DOB has 14 days to respond. They mostly likely won't. Call DOI.

The last time that a city council member
reported the DOB to DOI (around 1991) regarding some of their "shady" practices...14 DOB building inspectors were indicted!

Many of them went to jail.

Way to go!

Yet, which city council member would have the balls
to that kind of thing today...
i.e. Peter Koo, Jimmy Van Bramer, Dan Halloran?

We're all screwed because our "representatives" don't really give a flying f--k about anything except getting re-elected.

The powers to be actually finally got their shit together and came out sometime yesterday or early this morning and fixed the problem. Only took them since September 19th to make this wrong right.

Another victory for the little people, now just 999,999 more issues to take care of.
