People hatin' on Asians lately

From DNA Info:

A Fresh Meadows Hooters staffer resigned after using an anti-Asian slur to refer to a Korean-American customer on a take-out order receipt, humiliating the victim and his girlfriend, according to a new lawsuit and the restaurant.

Kisuk Cha, of Philadelphia, and 27-year-old Dayoung Choi, who he was visiting and is also of Korean descent, went to the Hooters at 61-09 190th St. to place an order of Buffalo shrimp and 10-piece chicken wings on July 1.

While they waited, they noticed that "several other employees were gawking and giggling at them," the suit, filed Monday in Brooklyn Federal Court, claims.

When the workers handed over their food, 25-year-old Cha — a recently naturalized citizen — noticed the word "CHINX" all in caps typed on the reciept, "presumably a plural form of what’s widely known as the 'N' word for Asians," according to the court papers.

"I'm happy to be a citizen, but I was so offended," said Cha, who works in information technology. "This isn't what I got my citizenship for — to be treated like this."

Ed McCabe, a lawyer who represents the franchise owners, confirmed that the receipt was printed at the Fresh Meadows eatery. He said human resources interviewed the waitress whose name was on the offending receipt, but she denied entering the word.

However, another young woman who was working that night stepped forward to admit responsibility and resigned immediately.

According to court papers filed by Cha's lawyer, Daniel Baek, Cha didn't confront the server because he was "paralyzed with anguish."

"He could not eat the food he had just bought as his stomach was churning and he could not be sure that someone did not spit in his food," the documents said. "He was so overwhelmed that he just wanted to go to bed to sleep, but was too angry to do so."

And according to the court papers, the Seoul native said that the ordeal continues to "haunt" him.

From the Times Ledger:

Lawmakers denounced racist graffiti left on a Flushing storefront that will house the future Mitchell-Linden branch of the Queens Public Library as well as a van parked nearby belonging to a Chinese newspaper and offered a cash reward to try and help find the perpetrator.

The graffiti, consisting of a racial slur directed at Asian Americans, was written in white paint on the building at 31-32 Union Street.

The epithet was discovered Sunday afternoon and reported to police Monday, when it was also cleaned.

The same slur was also written on a van belonging to the World Journal, a national Chinese-language newspaper in the country with offices in Whitestone.

I had a girlfriend who worked at Hooters.
From what I remember CHINX means the shrimp, onion ring batter cant be prepared with milk or cream. They use a different prep.

When it happened to Grace Meng at Boston Market, people said she overreacted and used it for political purposes. Maybe it's more common than we'd like to believe.

Thank God the server "Shenika" was not involved.

So they work in a Hooters in Fresh Meadows, and they act like they never saw an Asian before?

I'm surprised the articles didn't talk about all the anti-asian language on Queens Crappers. This is one of the most hate-filled forums there is, in fact. Useful, however, if you study such language, as I do.

Hate filled forum, I don't think so. this forum is made up of a lot of people that have lived and worked and grown up and raised kids in queens and they see the changes that are not for the better. you may be one of those that think any change is good, if

so bless you and your ability to function in an alternative universe. most people are sick of watching the third world encroaching into their front yards

#8..you must not read many comment sections of websites. the language is much more confrontational than Q.C.

the leftwing can be vicious.

Q.C. has a majority of haters of conservative citizen's pols. elected in Queens, even though the conservative's are impotent .the hater's real problem is their own elected D.I.N.O.s.

from a former "HUNKY" ethnic group in the 1900's.
the next group will be hated by these few nuts, when the Asians assimilate.

Aren't hooters and boobs synonymous?

Anon No. 10:

As Mr. Reagan once said: "There you go again."

The guy who demonizes more people than anyone else complaining about people demonizing the people he likes.

The guy who changed the subject more than anyone else complaining about other people changing the subject.

And now the guy who says "the leftwing can be vicious" is the same guy who uses more vicious language than anyone else here.

Is not your hypocrisy grand?

Probably another white liberal who's got a few chinks in his self righteous armor.

You need to find yourself another hobby you ras clot batty boy!

Sit back you trolls and have a good listen!

It's funny how nobody talks about all of the
African-American slurs that are often tossed around by Asians referring to "Blacks"....
but, then again, you would have to speak their language to know when it's happening.

Asians have a long standing reputation for being notorious bigots when it comes to people with darker skins.
They don't much like the "ghost people" either...
referring to 'Whites".

One case in point:
A "Black" woman is locked inside a Chinese owned store in downtown Flushing about 20 (?) years ago.
I believe it made the press.

The owner assumed that she stole something.
I think they even tried to search her.
This was a clear case of racial prejudice, so the woman sued.

Another case:
The door to another Chinese shop was locked shut in the face of another African-American shopper.
She immediately ran to the 109th precinct and brought a cop to force the Chinese owner to admit her into the store.

I've heard the "N" word often used behind the backs of African-Americans by Asians.

Politicians often look the other way when that happens.

A former New York State Assemblyman's comment regarding Flushing 30 years ago:
"Thank God for the Asians. We didn't want Flushing to become a south Jamaica."

I was there,
and so was the chief of staff of a city council member to witness hearing this blatant racial slur.

Oh but that's bigotry of another color.

What a bunch of hypocrites our pols often are.

I suppose that Senator Stavisky or her family never referred to a "Negro" as a "schvartza" back in the day.

Her crew ran out out the Bronx when it started going "colored" in the 1950s.

A lot wound up living in Mitchell Linden.

But let's not dare to offend the Asians until they've completed the job of driving out the "Blacks",
and other darker people of color from neighborhoods like downtown Flushing.

Besides, the local pols still need their laundered campaign contributions.

Real talk I would rather be surrounded by Asians instead of blacks and I bet most people would too.

Anonymous said...

Then you've just admitted that YOU are an ignorant bigot yourself...in public...on line!

Pray tell...and what "elevated" race do you belong to that's superior to either Asians or Blacks, etc. ?

You are obviously not Black.

Fella....I wouldn't want to be surrounded by people
of your redneck mentality ilk either.

I myself am Italian-American with a Jewish wife,
and I don't live within the Whitestone-Malba-Beechurst compound.

Get a life and get a better education!

Would most people like to be surrounded
by crooks like Tommy Huang?

Asians care only for themselves...
and an awful lot think that their shit don't stink.

Move to Chinatown and find out.
No, wait....Chinatown will be moving to you.

Personally...I prefer living in a mixed nabe,
and don't like being surrounded by any one particular ethic group.

Variety is the spice of life.

Living in a ghetto, of any socioeconomic class
(low or high) is damed BORING!

That's why I've moved out of downtown Flushing.
It's a monocultural ghetto offering very little variety.

Hooters?
You take you girl to Hooters?
Very "KLASSY" bub!

What's the matter...
you aren't satisfied with seeing her "tits" at home?

If I took my girl to Hooters she'd be insulted.

That Korean couple ought to hear
some of the slurs made by Chinese against Koreans.

The Asian races, pretty much, hate each other.

Now let's hear a hoot for Hooters!

WTF is a self respecting woman doing in that kind
of sleazy joint?

Oh...
"No understand English sign...thought was like Applebees".

Anonymous said...

I'll second the motion; I TOO, would rather be surrounded by Asians than by blacks. Call me whatever the hell you want!

#12...just to keep you in the company that you are used to "TRAVELING " with and raise your BP ,read the NY Post full page ad on Sun,9/16/12, pge. 17, "OBAMA'S BIG LIE REVEALED". from the book "dreams from my REAL father",supposedly a CPUSA propagandist.

one's agenda against America and the Constitution is the question, not the pigment of their skin or ethnicity. honorable and brave men and women will prevail over the dictators ,if they have the facts.

What the waitress wrote on the receipt was rude, disrespectful and uncalled for; but a federal lawsuit? Seriously? Grow a pair!

Anon No. 26:

There you go again!!!!

When I saw the ad in the Post today, I wondered who would be gullible enough to buy into that nonsense. You were my first guess, Gramps.

So now that the birth certificate scam has gone out the window, you've bought into a new one? The bridge I own that runs between Brooklyn and Manhattan is still for sale.

Things that make me laugh, like that ad in the Post doesn't make my BP go up. Just the opposite. If they print that ad every day, I'll live forever.

What year did these happen? 20 years ago? 20 years ago, people are more ignorant when it comes to race than nowadays. I do not hear any of these things happening that often.

All of these things you mention can occur only to FOBs or people who came here from another country recently or people who did not assimilate to the American culture. Heck when I was in Mexico, I seen racist attitude by Mexicans! I even see racist attitude by Hispanics here in Corona whom aren't assimilated to the American culture.

Blacks on the other hand, some are racist against other races maybe they still have a grudge against what happened years ago in the US.
But if they are also truly assimilated to the American culture, than they won't be as ignorant.

Just as American born blacks have a dislike for their carribean bretheren,Foregn born asians quite dislike their american born counterparts..They are known as ABC'c........american born chinks.Their words, not mine.Apparently many folks living in nyc are miserable, angry bastards and hate towards anyone who isn't just like them,is the norm.

Anonymous said...

That incident might have occurred 20 years ago but ASIANS STILL HATE BLACKS and nothing has changed much.

Bigotry is bigotry and it abounds in Flushing...supposedly the place where everybody is supposed to get along.

HYPOCRISY, BULLSHIT and COVER-UPS!!

The bigotry of our elected officials towards Blacks is STILL THERE....of course it's all sub rosa.

They make ALL efforts to help out the Asiatics who in turn drive out the unwanted DARKER people of color.

That's the plan that pols like State Assemblyman Morton C. Hillman...stooge of the Stavisky's went along with.

That plan is still active.

Not for nothing whatsoever but if you want to know the truth
anti-Asian sentiment is nothing new imo and that is not fair - and i say this as someone who's lived in Queens all my life.

and i'm against that.
food for thought and nice catch and miss w.
