LPC designates Brinckerhoff Cemetery - what's next?

Well, that's nice. Not to downplay the significance of landmarking, but the fact is that the property remains in the hands of someone who is anti-preservation, and who will more than likely apply to overturn the designation on the basis of hardship. The Queens Chronicle posted the commissioners' testimony indicating that development is still possible. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to save the cemetery, and no one seems to have the balls to ask Gennaro why he hasn't allocated a dime toward acquisition of the site by the city as a park in the close to 12 years that he has been in office.

This battle is far from over.

Too bad the owner can't burn it down a landmark building.

Vallone is for it!

(while historic houses in his district get torn down ever year)
