Woman parks legally, gets ticket
From NY1:
It's a totally bogus parking ticket, and driver Helen Dellaporte says the city doesn't care.
“$95 for a parking ticket for blocking a driveway that's not even there,” says Dellaporte.
That's what Dellaporte was slapped with when she parked her car in a legal spot right in front of an illegal driveway.
“My parents own this house since 1965, there's never been a driveway there. Because the curb looks low, they assumed that it was a driveway and they built an overhead door,” says Dellaporte.
The owner called the police to report their driveway was blocked and Dellaporte was ticketed.
“When I go to fight the ticket online, they say I don't have sufficient evidence. I go to my community board, they researched it with the Department of Buildings, gave me a letter to send to the appeal unit for the parking ticket,” says Dellaporte.
She still lost her appeal.
“There's no legal driveway, but I'm still stuck paying a $95 parking ticket,” says Dellaporte.
NY1 called DOB and confirmed the space is an illegal driveway.

D.O.B should ticket the owner of the building!
some new homeowners from asia are cementing both side yards and adding a second driveway (without curb cut permits )with extra length and 1-2 inch height curbs. motorists do not park in front of their house because of the confusion and that was the owners plan, so that he can park his 25'van .
some are devious and the inspectors could care less.
Have the owner restore the illegal driveway to it's former use, a parking spot fine the owner heavily. This is not right and found throughout the city. The city responds to the wrong problems and this is what it generates - waste of time / money for those whom are good citizens.
The law should be changed. Contact your council member.
By way of comparison the bike riders go through lights and ride on sidewalks and everyone wants to know what the problem is.
She should take the owner to small claims court for the aggrevation & the ticket!!
The owner filed a false report with the police...There was no driveway. How about legal charges against the owner. How dare they play this game!!!!

And I would like to add some hispanics homeowners are doing that too... plus spraying paint the curb yellow.
Judging from that sign by the driveway, Asians ruin everything.
"Judging from that sign by the driveway, Asians ruin everything."
??? Please clarify. I don't see any sign by the driveway. I only see a white woman standing there in the photo.
Try watching the video.
Why doesn't someone paint over the "NO" with "LEGAL" and add the DOB case number. She ought to be able to sue the owner in small claims court and at least have the satisfaction of a day in court.
