What about the Blissville oil spill?

From Newtown Pentacle:

It is not news that there are environmental contaminants floating freely in this troubled waterway, nor is there any revelation to be found in the fact that petroleum products are commonly observed pooling and flowing about the Newtown Creek watershed.

What is news is that this is in Queens.

Much of the attention, and deservedly so because of the large and growing population of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, which Newtown Creek receives is all about Brooklyn. The north shore of the Creek in Queens is often left out of discussion (and from both remediation and environmental benefits funding) because of its relatively tiny population and industrial character. One of the questions which this blog has asked since day one has been “Who can guess all there is, that might be buried down there?”.

In the case of the Blissville Oil spill, the question might as well be “How much there might be?”.

Well since the Penticle writer has been in Queens all of what 5 years, how has he become such an expert.

Maybe people in Queens are getting frozen out of participating in Newtown Creek.

Newtown Creek is now an EPA/NPL superfund site. Go to EPA.gov to report what you see. Similar work is being undertaken at the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, where the remedy is scheduled to be in place by 2016.

Lots of fear and loathing towards outsiders by those on the inside of the $ being thrown around to open this area to the developers - thus insuring that a cloak of secrecy is thrown around all this sudden spurt of suspicious activity around the toxic dump known as Newtown Creek.

The area is one of the most toxic brownfields in the nation - if not the world.

And the greatest city with all these wonderfully smart people are saying nothing about putting 1000s of people - and their unborn children - who will be living here at risk so a handful to real estate insiders abetted by the city's moronic political cabal, can make some money.

Anonymous 1- Hi Bob. Not to Single you out, nor cast a Ton of doubt about your motives in maligning me, but I've been in Queens for quite a bit longer than 5 years. By frozen out, do you mean not being handed a grant for doing fuck all nothing except "amassing power"? You also live on the upper east side of Manhattan, I would point out.

Anonymous 3- the creek is actually quite a beautiful place, and regularly surprises visitors when the thriving sea birds and other critters that populate its largely abandoned banks and docks are spotted. The real estate industrial complex is active mainly near the mouth of the Creek, in Greenpoint and LIC's Tower Town. The sins of the past continue to haunt the place, as in the case of the Blisssville spill.

So tell us, just how much are they paying you to tout this toxic dump?

Newtown Pentacle was telling everyone that would listen that they would never post on notorious Queens Crap - racist garbage you used to say about us Crapters.

See, we are not that bad. Play nice and we might welcome you back.

True "bliss" would be achieved
if Mr. B.S.contracted a case of prolonged writer's cramp so the pompous coward couldn't keystroke for a month.

Imagine a holiday free from his cryptic, obtuse posts?

NICE!
