DOB slaps building collapse company
From NBC:
The New York City Buildings Department has filed nine violations against the company that was in charge of construction at the Brooklyn building that collapsed Tuesday afternoon, killing a worker.
The SP&K Construction Company was in charge of the construction project at the Brighton Beach building, according to officials.
The company received violations Wednesday for defective construction vents, missing guard rails, inadequate housekeeping, no vertical protective netting and improper storage of materials.
The five-story building on Brighton Fifth Street collapsed suddenly Tuesday afternoon, trapping three people. One worker was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and later died.

Great, the guy is dead and now the DOB does it's job.
This is the type of accidents when you don't employ UNION Workers. This type of accident would never have takinen place.
Union workers would never start at the top & work down with pouring concrete .
They do it the correct way. From the bottom up.
Too little too late...the usual for an important agency under Bloomberg auspices. Also, the point about union workers is well taken. They do PROTECT workers from such dangerous procedures. Only the UFT doesn't do that. The other unions who protect those with male dominated jobs do.
