Liu and Bloomberg bury the hatchet

From the NY Post:

Mayor Bloomberg and Comptroller John Liu -- who’ve been at constant war for nearly two years -- have secretly reached a peace pact.

Sources said the two met for a hush-hush breakfast a couple of weeks ago in an attempt to cool down one of the hottest political feuds in town.

When the mayor won a narrow third-term victory in 2009 and invited Liu for a chat over breakfast, the comptroller famously claimed to be too busy.

“A long time ago, the people of New York decided there would be no king nor a monarch in New York,” he later told a reporter.

But since their breakfast on Aug. 29, held amid the cleanup after Hurricane Irene, the tone on both sides has changed markedly.

Hours after chowing down with the mayor, Liu issued a press release that was so laudatory it had some folks at City Hall wondering if it really came from his office.

“New Yorkers should take a moment to recognize that the storm’s effects would have been much worse if Mayor Bloomberg had not taken steps to properly prepare the city for the worst storm to hit the East Coast in decades,” Liu gushed.

Liu supported Weprin's run for Congress. He defeated him decisively for Comptroller.

There is an old adage in politics: never trust another politician.

Said no doubt by a politician.

Anon No. 5 - Amoral, not socialists. No socialist would want to have anything to do with either of these guys.
