Bloomberg heckled and booed at ceremony

Suzannah's post.
Michael Bloomberg at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Commemoration (3/25/11)

Numerous speakers were met with cheers by the thousands in attendance at the rally to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire--but not New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. The pro-labor crowd loudly booed and heckled Bloomberg from start to finish. Bloomberg has rolled back worker benefits, threatened to lay off thousands of teachers, and treats construction accidents as the cost of doing business.

They should have also used the day to signal the end of clothing that is "made in America". I read a few months ago that the percentage of clothing that was made in America has fallen to single digits. Thanks to rezoning and other city planning machinations, the Council and Bloomberg have destroyed the Garment district. Instead of worrying about immigration reform for models maybe our Mayor should work with designers like Nanette Lepore who still see fashion as a growth industry.

Speaking of clothing, it's nice to see S.B.Troy for once with her boobs covered up. Hey kid, you wanna be taken seriously, dress appropriately in the future.

Sorry George but most of us like serious boobage! What's your excuse?

Here is our Mayor who circumvented law and obtained a second term.

He is now doing everything possible to break the unions in New York City. The same unions that were able to become what they have and protect its members, because of the Triangle Shirt Waist tragedy. Yet he has the AUDACITY to show up at the memorial and speak?

Granted that some union leaders have taken advantage of things, but is that not the same in every business? They are the ones that should be punished!

Let us not forget that unions are there to protect its members, the same people that keep this city running. These workers, especially municipal workers, do not go into the profession to get rich. Most of them get into it for noble causes while others get into it to support their families. At the end of the day, a modest house paid after 30 years of mortgage, children out of college with student loans, a decent pension to cover the bills, and medical to help them live a comfortable life. Mind you most of their ills are job related, so whats wrong with medical coverage?

Their neighbors who work in the private sector, purchase summer homes with their bonuses, their children go to more expensive private schools and universities with little to no loans. They retire to upscale retirment communities. God Bless them for that is the path they chose and it went well.

Imagine if every Municipal worker in New York Called in sick just one day next week, what would happen? Then imagine they wait another week and do it again? Or if they just stage a work slow down? We do not want this , it would shut the City down.

However, these union workers, are the backbone of our Country and more so our City.

People like Bloomberg WERE TO BLAME for the the fire tragedy back then. Now these same EVIL FUCKS want this to happen ALL OVER AGAIN for the sake of corporate greed.

FUCK BLOOMBERG.

FUCK THE RICH REPUBLICANS WHO WANT TO END THE MIDDLE CLASS IN ORDER TO PASS OUR WEALTH ONTO THEIR BASTARD CHILDREN.

FUCK CLOTHING MADE IN CHINA.

FUCK ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA.

LONG LIVE AMERICAN UNIONS!

Detective McNutty said...

@last anonymous

How can this tragedy happen again if they don't make clothes in American anymore and blaming just republicans is short sighted. The majority of the city council are Democrats. They are the ones who helped change zoning laws that pushed out Garment makers for more office space and condos in that area.

She doesn't want to get married, because, boys, that's not a natural state for the kind of woman Susan B. Troy appears to be from her comments and you tube postings. She is a true artist and a free spirit who has a social conscience and knows how to use it. I think it was the great artist Georges Braque who said something like: "Art disturbs while science reassures." I hope Susan B. Troy continues to disturb us for a long time.

georgetheatheist said...

"She is a true artist..."

Really? The only "art" I've seen of hers on this blog is her Bloomberg poster. And that "art" is stretching the term. Hey Suzannah, check out the attire that Ferraro wore in the photo on the post above this one.

Methinks Georgie is crushin' on Suzannah. Too bad she's out of his league! George, Moby is more your style!!!

Speaking of dicks.

Check out her "art". From S.B.T.'s own web page:

I just have to have this Troy on my living room wall right next to my Renoir.

NOW the truth can be told. George likes dicks. Why didn't we see that sooner? I'll bet George saw that coming, so to speak.

I figured it out right away when he became obsessed with Mocker.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

They should have tarred and feathered that pompous ass...tied him to a log...and pushed him in the direction of his Bermuda compound!

If you want to see art go to western Queens and see all those wasted lawns being converted into Queens Crap.

The hotels in Dutch Kills, the barracks in Old Astoria, the senior warehouses by HANAC, the thriving business districts with seedy 99 cent stores, the tiresome cafes blocking sidewalks full of grim men and punks from the Island, the shithouse smell from overburdened sewage plants and the flickering lights from all those illegal conversions - hell, people come in from all around the world, mouth agape, to see the 'art.'

Folks, that is Bloomberg Country. Every one of those civic leaders backed that prick. If you want to see the art of urban planning in our future, that is were you must go.

The people responsible for this creation have certainly created something new and .... well, what IS the opposite of Renaissance?

Hey Bozo. Maybe some of us are fed up with georgetheatheist's inane comments and are giving him the treatment he deserves. You know what happens when you assume. In this case, IT'S JUST YOU!!!

Have you even been to QC before? Get a life!!!

Ok so you gave George a taste of his own medicine, yes he deserves it.

But, what did you really do?

Took away from the seriousness of the topic.

THIS IS WHY QUEENS IS NEVER TAKEN SERIOUSLY. We are but a microcosim of what goes on in Queens.

I tend to believe that there is truth in humor. I cut my teeth on humor by reading MAD magazine. As someone recently said (paraphrasing?):

I come to Queens Crap for the jokes but I stay for the truth.

No we're not...and it's microcosm! The people who come to read the articles posted on this website are, in my opinion, more aware of the issues facing Queens. Many are fed up and disgusted by what seemingly is the impossible task of waking others. Humor is a way of letting off steam. The added benefit is knowing that people like Toby Stavisky (Moby) and her son Evan, Congressman Ackerman (Hackerman), Claire Shulman (Shillman), Helen Marshall (Marshill), etc. read the comments posted here. I'm sure they are s-o-o-o-o-o proud of themselves after the truth comes out! At least it's a start.

Look, I like Suzannah B. Troy's commentary. It's incisive and perceptive of what is going on here in New York City. But she is cutting into the import of her message by her visual appearance. It is a distraction from her message. It dilutes it. She could be more effect with a redo of her sexual/circus raiment.

If you read the lettering on her painting, "Techno-Penis-Head" (linked to in my previous commentary above) "I know it isn't all men, it just feels that way" et cetera, it seems to me that she has deep psychoneurotical anti-men issues at work here. Abuse as a child? Her constant flaunting of her bustline seems to be some kind of retribution in her "war" against the Father-figure. And Michael Bloomberg is the personification of that figure.

Am I right or wrong?

And the bros.Davis and Charles have been funding millions in climate change denial which is only fitting since they own some of the largest polluting coal business's in the world, Koch Minerals.

And theres the Koch funded Americans for Prosperity group to spread the lies to protect their business interests.

And their father was John Bircher so its natural what group the boys financed recently.

Between 1997 and 2008, David and Charles Koch collectively gave more than $17 million to groups lobbying against unions.

"Between 1997 and 2008, David and Charles Koch collectively gave more than $17 million to groups lobbying against unions."

Chicken feed compared to what the unions pony up.

American Fedn of State, County & Municipal Employees were good for $42,803,624 for the dems, the NEA (teachers) were good for $29,824,349 for the dems, IBEW (electrical workers) were good for $32,228,587. the list goes on and on. And even Goldman Sachs (one of the evil wall st empire) prefers the dems by a 2:1 ratio. (they gave $20,686,822 to the dems)

when you want to find out the facts on who is paying for who google opensecrets.

ew-3 said...

just to add to my last -

The American Federation of Teachers also ponied up $28,412,324 to the dems.

That brings the teachers unions, and there are more of them that I have not added yet, to about $58 MILLION.

Makes the Koch Bros look like pikers.
