Let's tour the Steinway Mansion
From NBC:
Originally built in 1850, the legendary, Astoria, Queens mansion was purchased by the Steinway family in 1870, who also operated a piano factory on the premises. Although no longer owned by the piano-purveying family, the five-bedroom, 4.5-bath house retains their name. The home, which includes an English pub, billiards room, jacuzzi and sauna, is currently owned by Michael Halberian, whose family has lived here since 1925.

Wish it would remain as a home. Some family with lots of money could really enjoy living in it.
You think some family with lots of money is going to want to live across the street from a sewage treatment plant and surrounded by factories?
Sorry did not know what was in the area. I am sure the odor is bad around there.
Hey, Crapper, I live by a sewage treatment plant. Nice and quiet. No residential neighbors. C'mon over and I'll boil you a nice head of cabbage.
NY1 has more.
Astoria actually has a few trees?
Since when is five bedrooms a "mansion"?
25 rooms is a mansion.
Mike Halberian had a fancy cocktail party to show off the house to potential buyers last Wednesday. Queens Buzz has a big write-up about it
Steinway Cocktail Party
So Vallone wants to turn it into a museum yet he was at a fancy cocktail party thrown by the realtors to sell the house to private interests?
I smell a rat.
I hope it is purchased by someone who will keep it as it is or turn it into a museum.
I would live there if I could afford it....don't care about was is close by. The property itself would give me seclusion.
How come I wasn't invited?
Based on the Queens Buzz slide show, it looks like Mike Halberian has really fixed up the inside of the mansion. The inside no longer looks like a disaster area/warehouse anymore. Keep on keepin' on, Halberian!
