City and state subsidizing crap

From NY1:

NY1 recently checked out a couple of new affordable housing developments to see just what's out there.

Our first stop is in Jamaica, Queens where we find seven newly constructed multifamily houses, located near 150th and 157th Streets, between South Road and 109th Avenue.

"The exterior of the home is built with concrete block and brick, with
energy saving windows, double glazed and energy saving doors," said Jobe Development owner Kenrick Jobe.
Developers Offer New City Dwellings At Subsidized Prices

One three-family and six two-family houses with varying lot sizes are available. All have fenced, landscaped front yards and backyards, a garage and an unfinished basement with two boilers and two hot water heaters.

While qualified first time buyers at any income level can purchase the homes, subsidized prices start at $287,000 for eligible purchasers who have a combined family income of about $61,000 to $84,000.

For more information, contact Noemi Vega at the Housing Partnership Development Corporation at (646) 217-3392.

Repeat after me F-E-D-D-E-R-S C-R-A-P. Not only that, but a $287,000 asking price for a family of four making $61,000 is not all that affordable.

Its not 'city' and 'state', its our money that is being paid for taxes to provide services to us and our families.

Instead, our services suck, and the money is given to developers to (perhaps) satisify campaign debts and (certainly) make them rich.

But, if on paper you make 61k and the rest of your family is dealing drugs, this is easily affordable.
