Pondering the PODS

Anyone know what the regulations are with regards to leaving these storage containers on the sidewalk? Is this a DOB issue or a DOT issue?

It's more like an FBI or Homeland Security issue.

What's inside the container?

Who put the things inside?

See something? Say something!

This is no different from an unattended briefcase spotted in Grand Central Station.

Be suspicious.

How large was the U-Haul in the 1993 WTC bombing or the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing?

All it takes today is a cell phone or a timer.

That is a DOT issue. Call them up, I am sure they would love to hear about it and sink their cash sucking fangs right into it.

Don't patronize the stores that do these things! I can't put a planter in front of my store without being penalized. How did this get placed in plain sight with no action. Make fines hefty enough in order for it to get removed.

No, its a Dep of San. problem. I was at a meeting with Dep of San. and they said like those good will boxes on sidewalk are illegal and if you see it on a sidewalk to please call NYDS (311) and they will dispose of it. If there is no permit it can not be on a sidewalk.

This isn't a goodwill box, it's storage for the business. I've also seen some of these converted into office trailers.

Hmm...if its on a legal sidewalk, then definitely call DOT.

Can't really tell if that is a legal sidewalk from that picture though.

I called and complained about all those cars and vans parked on the sidewalk. During the summer while heavily pregnant I could not walk on the sidewalk and had to bring my son out onto the road just to get by. Now I can't get by with my stroller. Nothing changes, well except from my constantly rising property tax bill, electric bill, gas bill, water bil and...
