Avella shines at WFP mayoral forum

From the NY Times:

...judging by the crowd’s reaction, Mr. Bloomberg was the least popular of the three. He defended his schools chancellor, Joel I. Klein, who has been criticized as aloof and unresponsive to parents and educators, saying: “Could he have better social skills? We all could. But his job is not to be a nice guy; his job is to deliver results.”

Mr. Thompson may have missed an opportunity to hammer away at an issue on which he and the Working Families Party were aligned against Mr. Bloomberg last fall: the mayor’s successful bid to change the term limits law.

But it was Mr. Avella who seemed to generate the most applause. He said that Mr. Thompson was part of a Democratic machine that would not change anything. And, in a line that may have drawn the loudest applause, he had a far different assessment of Mr. Klein’s tenure.

“It would be my pleasure as mayor to say to Joel Klein: You’re fired!” he said.

I was there. Avella clearly won! He energized the crowd. He was terrific!!

Thompson was rehearsed and same old same old.

But after the WFP endorsed christine quinn - anything is possible

Tony Avella did shine and he was described as honest which made him the only candidate to be called so.

I had to get out the barf bag when Bloomberg said you can't buy an election.

Hilarious!!!!

Let's PLEASE elect this guy in November!!!

Tony really did a wonderful job. However, it is now up to the media to let the rest of the city know that he exists!!! I really enjoyed the Davey v. Goliath reference...heard here at the Queens Crap blogsite a while ago! Go Tony!

Not gonna happen.

WFP is communist party , why would you want that as an endorsement?

Anonymous said...

Exactly. The Working Families Party? Just call it the Socialist Party because that is what it is. I wouldn't be proud of being cheered by them.

I know. God forbid that people find a political party that will give them a voice. I find it quite interesting that the trolls on this blog will defame the WFP while ignoring the fact that Democrats and Republicans are no longer responsive to the needs and desires of constituents in order to support the wealthy developers and real estate industry that are sucking us dry! Nice try but I think that an endorsement from the WFP is a good thing. By the way, why did Doomberg and Thompson bother to show and particiapte if the organization is so vile/evil??? I wouldn't be surprised if the last 2 posts were by the same person!

Tony shouldn't worry. He won't get there endorsement.

If you're the product of a NYC education, then you are a perfect example of why we need Tony Avella to put the school system back into the hands of parents and teachers and remove it from political influences. By the way, it is THEIR and not THERE, bozo!

Hey Joe!!!!! The last thing we need is to have the parents in Queens in charge of the schools. Come on now.

Your right, my Type-O...lol...Thanks . You must be a teacher. Still Tony won't get many endorsements, maybe yours and even mine but not much else, let's be honest here. He would be better off as a Borough President or maybe he can take Padavan's spot , he's old and out of touch . Tony would be a good replacement, but I'm sure the republican Party wouldn't like that.

Thank you for misinterpreting my comment. Did you notice that I said, "parents and teachers" because educating children should be a team effort and not a political football? As Councilman Avella suggested during yesterday's event, parents need to be more involved than just helping out with homework. Also, how dare you suggest that Queens parents are incapable of being involved?

Not a teacher and to be honest...I misspelled "particiapte" which should be corrected to participate. Sorry about the bozo addition (but I am a Firesign Theatre fan, if ya catch my meaning). You kinda came on like one of the trolls who are checking out Crappy's blog because they are getting scared that people are waking up to the shenanigans of our corrupted elected officials and their representatives.

I agree that Tony would be a great candidate for those positions but he would, in my humble opinion, be a better mayor at this point in New York City's history. After listening to him speak at the event, his agenda is realistic and puts the emphasis on people and not money and he is the ONLY candidate speaking out for these ideals. For example, he suggested that allowing communties to be more involved in the planning and design of construction projects is necessary.

It may seem like an uphill battle but I am optimistic that once his message gets out, people will pay more attention to Avella and support his efforts. Doomberg's TV spot claims that he is not a back slapper, which is a refreshingly true statement. Unfortunately, it omits the fact that he is a back stabber!

It would be my pleasure as mayor to say to Commissar Death and Taxes: You’re fired!

Then Tony can enjoy the pleasure of firing Klein.

And, we New Yorkers can return to the business of controlling our own fates - our family's, our kids' schooling, our neighborhoods, small businesses, our earnings, and all that has been taken by the Commissar.

Use September 15 to take our city and our government back from ignorant thieves.

Vote to remove this control freak.

Never covered by the media so like the tree falling in the forest with no one around, its crash is unheard.

All this will do is give Blumturd a chance to hear Tony's arguements and a chance to craft responses to them.

I would be more impressed if at a Crowley event they held a debate and the party faithful gave Blumturd a tepid responce.

That will not happen because political foamer wannabes and developers disguised as residents will applaud the hacks.

Wait, was this a debate?? I'm serious, I really don't know...

If the media allows Tony to be heard it will be clear to everyone that he is the clear choice to run our city!

GO TONY!!!

OMG Firesign Theater!! I do remember "I Think We're All Bozos on this Bus"!! We don't need Nick Danger, Third Eye to uncover the truth. We know the truth!! The Democrats and Republicans can all considered to be Republicrats. They are all useless. Avella needs to organize the outer boroughs to be successful. Not all New Yorkers live in Manhattan, Bloomberg's world.

So very sick and tired of people saying "They're all crooks" then they don't vote in the Primaries.
This is a guarantee the crook gets elected.

The State Senate - "Throw them all out". We voted Republicans out and except for two crooks Democrats are trying to do what we voted them in to do. Soon as the Republicans lost power I knew without a doubt they would try anything to hold onto the power.

Not stating these facts because I'm a registered Democrat. I just believe in justice, including not overturning Term Limits.

Muriel-
They broke the President! I found this clip on YouTube and thought you might enjoy it on this Holiday weekend. The audio is Firesign but the video is a creative potpourri of clips.

Thanks for the memories, Joe. By the way, I have been the FST video archivist since 1974.

This election is bought and paid for. It is over. Thompson will be the candidate and most people in this city will believe the ads and commercials Bloomberg spends 100 million on. Many different ways are used to suppress an opponent in an election all over the world. Sometimes it is intimidation by force or fear and sometimes it is economical, but in the end the choice of the voters is gone.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Joe Citizen. Tony Avella for Mayor

Anonymous said...

A waste of a vote. Keep dreaming Crapgirl.

Queens Crapper said...

Why is Avella a "waste of a vote"?

Do you not believe in primaries?

Anonymous said...

It might happen but you need to provoke him - you need to talk to your friends and neighbors - you need to publicly challenge his supporters - do things like take pictures, record meetings, or send copies of letters to ol Crappy or other blogsites.

The can be a real opportunity to discover the importance of blogs.

If you ACT UP only if you do so, will make Tony possible.

Bitchen on a blog, preachin to the choir will not do it.
