And we're back to no security at Fort Totten gate

From Bay Terrace Cafe:

At a meeting held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, Fire Department Chiefs and Unit Heads decided to completely eliminate gate security at Fort Totten. This is contrary to earlier reports from official FDNY sources that the security would be provided by light duty fire fighters.

At this time attempts are being made to obtain copies of the conveyance agreement, which some interested parties believe call for FDNY to maintain gate security.

Why bother getting that agreement? In this city, the Commissar's word is only good when it's associated with a tax increase.

He IS Commissar Death and Taxes for good reason, ya know.

How about some "off duty" firemen
manning the gate instead of jogging around the fort all day?

The last time I went to the visitor's center at the commandant's house
and asked someone to open up the locked gate to the old battery I was told they're "out rowing" off the stone jetty.

It was visiting hours after all.
