Nostalgia trains and buses roll through Queens

...every Sunday through Dec. 28, the MTA will run vintage trains between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. between Queens Plaza and Second Avenue in Manhattan.

Vintage trains are back for the holidays

The agency that runs New York City's public bus system is bringing back some classic coaches that commuters can ride for the price of a regular fare.

New York City Transit's vintage fleet consists of 19 buses such as a 1917 wood-bodied double-decker called the Queen Anne and a 1956 model that was the first to have air conditioning.

The vintage buses are in service on several Manhattan and Queens routes weekday rush hours during the holiday season.

City offers vintage bus rides for holidays

Sorry, they don't mention which lines they'll be on.

The nostalgia bus will run on various bus lines including the q32 in Queens no schedule or date for that.

Heard old train cars will be the V line on weekends.

No 7 trains are running from the past? Are W lines going to be the past?Or is the Kings council going back to the toll bridge idea.

Yeah right - Queens riders will get this uncomfortable ride to work if they use this line on weekends. Shafted - put these cars on any Manhattan line and a wait for those folks to scream bloody murder that they are forced to ride these rail-cars - must be that the newer cars are out of service and these are the replacements.

Ah, they are not so bad on days of low traffic. Kind of like the chugga chugga chugga noise and the smell of grease.

Almost expect to see King Kong around the corner as we ride the 3rd Ave el.

Are the nostalgia trains going to have depression era fares? (5 cents a ride perhaps?)

Nevertheless, the nostalgia trains will still have to abide by the present day, usual screwed up weekend schedules that we have to endure on the weekends in Queens.

Lots of complaining, as usual...

I for one would enjoy riding a train like my grandma used to take me on, with bouncy woven seats, bare lightbulbs, and white enamel or leather-strap hand-holds. That would be cool.

I would definitely enjoy it. If they were brought back permanently due to budget cuts, I'd be pissed, though.

I saw an M34 using one of the old late 70's/early 80's buses.

Are you trying to be ironic?

The V train doesn't run on the weekends.

Id like to ride an old M train Q car from the 60's. Yes woven seats, it cost 5 or 10 cents back then.

I remember riding those trains, and I remember that all too often only one of the two train doors would open, just like in the picture. It's nice to see that almost 40 years later they STILL haven't fixed those doors!

Ahh, the good old days, the romantic (broken)woven seats stabbing you in the butt. The open windows were the "air conditioning." No announcements... you couldn't hear them with the windows open anyway.

You were supposed to know where you were by the color of the tiles...
