Manhattan wins subway entrance game

...the fanfare on Wednesday morning seemed justified when officials of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority formally opened two new stairways on the northwest corner of Broadway and 60th Street that lead into the subway station beneath the circle. About 50 yards away, a century-old entrance in the middle of a traffic island is scheduled to close to the public on July 28 for a renovation that is expected to last more than a year.

2 New Subway Entrances Open at Columbus Circle

Meanwhile, back in Queens, an entrance of the Hunterspoint Avenue station on the 7 line has been closed for weeks (one across the street was permanently closed years ago) and no one has written a thing about it in the papers. Anyone know what's going on here?

Brooklyn's getting some renovations, too.

Some of our borough's elevated stations used to have second entrances that were closed long ago.

Its in Queens.

Unless a politican (and by extension a newspaper - funny how this linkage always happens, isn't it?) says its a problem, its no problem.

Now hunger, affordable housing, and bike lanes, oh God those bike lanes, these are real needs in the community.

I believe they are in the priocess of repairing the concrete on the stairs and replacing drain piping...

But that priocess should take no longer than 3 weeks to complete. This has been off-lints for about 2 months now...
