From green to gray

You know that pile of green crap being built right next to the Pulaski Bridge?
Here's what it will eventually become. Gorgeous, eh?
And here's what the "new" LIC looks like these days. Gorgeous, eh?

Notice that in the "finished product" photo of the (cough!piecofshit!cough!)building, there's no sign of the Pulaski--the perspective show in fictional. Nor can you see this thing's proximity to Jackson Avenue and 11th Street, heavy with truck traffic, nor the Midtown Tunnel and the Sunnyside Rail Yards, each 100 yards away for maximum noise/pollution density. Another extremely welcome addition to the neighborhood! (The cheap irony, of course, is that the third photo had to have been snapped from the rooftop of the Badge Building, a condo joint which opened a year late due to what looked like some amateurish construction work, and--natch--which is itself a turgid piece o'.)

Too much traffic! Double the population and put in a bike lane!

Somebody on Curbed wrote that this thing looks like it's already decades old. It looks like something that would have been built in 1965.

Thumbs down to an ugly building!

Its no masterpieve, but its certainly better than what was ther before. Its definately an improvement and welcome addition to the nabe.

How is it better?

The whole area is so much better with the great new buildings going up and people moving in. Stop being so jealous that you can't afford it and stop hating so much.

You tell me. How is a parking lot for random trucks better?

Isn't the presence of trucks indicative of jobs? Where is the job base in the "new LIC"? How does it help the people who are already there to have thousands more people move into the neighborhood who are going to exist in self-contained communities but utilize the already strained infrastructure?

If I had the millions of dollars it will cost to live in one of these, I sure wouldn't plop myself down next to the Pulaski Bridge. It's just fucking hilarious that people who supposedly are rich because they are so educated would spend their money so foolishly.

They may have gotten rid of the lot where the trucks parked, but they still receive all the benefits of living at the crossroads of 2 major truck routes. If you love trucks, buy at L!!!

These LIC yuppies are just haters of people who drive trucks for a living. Where do you think trucks go at night? In lots in manufacturing zones. Nice that Mr. Bloomberg thinks these sites aren't needed anymore.

I'd think a truck parking lot would be a smarter choice for this corner than a condo development, but I am no MBA or city planner.

"Its no masterpieve, but its certainly better than what was ther before. Its definately an improvement and welcome addition to the nabe."

Translation: We bought here because we were lured by the mystique of this up-and-coming industrial area, but now that we've been here for a few months, we'd like to scrub the nabe clean of anything that's remotely manufacturing-related and make everything sterile and shiny. Even if a condo looks like a giant pile of shit and is inappropriately situated, we prefer to look at it rather than be reminded of the area's past as a major manufacturing town.

That is evident.

Truck parking - the economic engine of NYC. Sounds like a real growth industry.

Pretty good! Translation is a bit rough, but the message is on point. Where did you learn to speak yuppie?

The job base is over in China Crap head!An NO no one loves these condos in LIC.These are the only people I wish that would get pushed out or in the the river. All their money goes to Manhattan, and not one penny goes to go LIC, just Hunters Vomit. There you go Queens "writers". New phrase for you.And they all drive. They walk like there on an episode of gossip girl.I wanna live next to the biggest toxic oil waste in the world. The Newtown creek with Bp and all the major American oil companies leaking into the river.Write about that hand draggers. Greenpoint and LIC has the highest amount of brain and kidney cancer in an urban area from oil spilled in the Newtown creek decades ago . Who cares, Uh. You failed to write about that.SUV,SUV, oil oil oil, and red SUV's.Take care of it in the FIRST place Queens residents.Newtown creek is a disaster.Look it up.These people live here half the year, if at all.

Translation: we dont want any hint or association with the Archie Bunkers that used to live here.

Sure bad planing hurt their community, but thats not our fault.

After they elected the officals that sold them down the river, and paid taxes for the salaries of city planning to plan them off the board, their usefulness is over.

Yeah, Archie Bunker.Ha Ha.No Archie we all hate the condos down there and the overdevelopment.Address them directly and tell the area cant handle anymore people.

By any chance, did Linda Blair design this?
