Lancaster after building collapse: "Oops"

Commissioner Criticizes Buildings Dept. in Collapse
from NY Sun

The city's Department of Buildings did not properly process an emergency declaration to repair a building that collapsed in Harlem on Tuesday, the commissioner of the department, Patricia Lancaster, said.

The Buildings Department had put the owner of the building, the Kushner Companies, on notice of the building's unsafe condition and issued an immediate emergency declaration on January 11, Ms. Lancaster said. The declaration, which was not properly processed, would have enabled the city to secure the building at the owner's expense if the owner did not immediately perform the work, Ms. Lancaster said.

During an inspection on January 23, department inspectors did not properly act on the declaration, Ms. Lancaster said.

"This lapse is unacceptable and we will take appropriate measures — including disciplining anyone who did not do their job — to ensure that this does not happen again," she said.

The horse already ran away, Ms. Lancaster,
so why close the barn door now ?

She's but another municipal phony
who's doing an incompetent job of running
NYC's most corrupt and inefficient department.

They should dock Pat's pay check for this
to the tune of, at least, 3 months salary!

Oops indeed !
And what did this latest "little" DOB mistake
cost the city?

We should add DOB to Homeland Security's list
of Al Queda operatives..... for they're doing
a yeoman's job of allowing our city
to fall down ....building by building!

Question: why does the media not hold our elected officials to the same scruity they hold baseball players and Brittany?

I mean, how can any paper report something like this without some snide comment thrown in?

"disciplining anyone who did not do their job-to ensure this does not happen again."

Why on earth does she not take responsibility and resign. These people are such a bore, holding everyone responsible except themselves.

Pat will discipline a DOB crew, who are just her employees but she'll make nice deals with rogue architects with deep pockets so they don't get in trouble with the state.

This woman is so corrupt and so full of it that she should really should be behind bars. Or perhaps run for office.. not sure which is more appropriate.
