The gingerbread house of Middle Village

To end this work week, I'll leave you with a house full of interesting details (that's not quite finished) located on 79th Street between 66th and Juniper Valley Roads in Middle Village. When I saw this, I had a craving for cocoa.

What is going on in Middle Village? This is the second castle built. We must of had some lotto winners that wanted to fufill their dream.....to live in a castle but not have to move. I can not think of any other reason why someone would build something so hideous. They want to be KING!

How ugly.....I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I don't see it.

I kind of like it. Except for the brick facade in the front right section.

The lady of the house is gorgeous. A real knock out. If this is what she wanted, I don't blame hubby for providing it.

The house looks nice. It is a little different, but in a good, non-gaudy way. Would you prefer a flat brick box instead?

Middle Village?

Middle Earth?

Middle Ages?

compared to the stuff going up these days, it's quite nice.

The house is serene, tasteful aesthetically, and stands out above the rest. I give it my approval.

It's not bad except for the brick balcony and the multicolored roof shingles.

Notice how the stones line the garden and the curb. Nice little detail.

Some of these in Bayside by the children’s hospital.
They are much better the Asian bomb shelters. They are a lot of extra work and cost to build. If some good fella own's it and plans on staying there thats a good thing.
PS: I would redo or remove that front balcony. It looks like a sick appendage

While it's not exactly what I'd build if I had the means, it's really quite nice.

And you can bet they're not going to line their basement with mattresses and rent it out to twenty-three cab drivers sleeping in shifts.

With all those clashing textures of brick, it is a tasteless visual nightmare. Reminds me a those kitchens in Astoria designed by one of those Greeks in the tile trade.

Queens, once the home of the stunning planned community, is now a catalogue of tasteless design.

Quality materials and skillfully built is no excuse for someone's vision of a mismosh of style shit that is not in character with the neighboring structures. It is a grand chicken coop or even a brothel. Does the interior have heavy red drapes with plasic covering the sofas - maybe crystals and cherubes dangling everywhere?

Put a velvet portrait of the lady naked in front of the house to distract the eye from looking at this garbage. Send these folks back to Bensonhurst. There in the grabage carting industry, right?

I think it's full of fun and fantasy.....
not like an ugly Mc Mansion at all.

Can't we just enjoy the whimsy
despite some architectural boo boos ?

Where do you shop for furniture - on Steinway street?

...do brothels still look like that, with the heavy drapes and all, as portrayed in some silent movies like "Diary of a Lost Girl."

Garbage carting industry LOL !!!

LOL.....those capo's now work and live in The Town of North Hempsted...No more Bensonhurst.

I like the home...and if your gonna criticize the style, begin with the architects and bulders of the 1920's...A style period notorious for detail and Tudor-esque brick work.
