Wow - found an interesting one in Bayside - Guy bought a house that was an illegal 2 family - change requested - to restore it to a 1 family

Something good for a change, huh?

Thanks Crappy - this is an excellent starting point - please leave this link on your web site so that the current and future good folks that wish to empower themselfs to correct or reverse illegal property changes.

We can surmise quite a bit using this tool, but how do I educate myself to what criteria is required to convert a single family home's basement to become a 2 family on the CO?

I want to target homes I believe have been falsely self certified to meet code of a 2 family. I have lived for decades in a single family home in attached brick rows and never could you even place a 1/2 bath in the basement without stiff fines - forget about a stove - which I completely agree with. Now I am surrounded by folks who convert their garages and interior basements as overt rentals. It has changed the character of the neghborhood forever. Many were self certified, I believe illegally not meeting code at all! Help, anyone have code guidance to look up? I want to go after each house on the block.

Thanks DOB.....
but I already know what's going on in my hood....
Tommy Huang.....tear downs.....non complying
construction.....illegal hotels.....
questionable "churches" popping up by the dozens...
etc....etc....etc. !

Now you crooked bastards....
WHAT IS DOB GOING TO DO
ABOUT ENFORCEMENT!

Is it to be the usual slap on the wrist for lawbreakers?

not at all that familiar with the DOB site but from what I can tell the info provided seems incomplete. Though there's an excellent record of the number of complaints and violations that have been issued to a property there's no description of what those complaints or violations pertained to at least as far as I can tell. (Maybe I'm not looking in the right place?)
