St. John's promoting overdevelopment

At least a dozen of the neighbors of St. John's University's new Henley Road dorm project addressed Community Board 8 last week during the monthly meeting, upset that the negotiations were conducted without community input and worried about its impact on the neighborhood.

Neighbors, CB 8 sound off on St. John's dormitory plan

The six-story, 485-bed dorm is to go up on a sextuple lot at 172-14 Henley Rd. among one- and two-family houses and low-rise multi-unit buildings in a neighborhood where the two sides of the street are zoned differently. The south side is zoned R5, which allows multi-unit residential buildings, and the north side of Henley Road is zoned R1-2, which permits one- and two-family detached houses. Neither zoning designation has a set maximum height if used for a community facility.

Councilman James Gennaro has written a letter to the editor about the situation.

Pictured is an aerial view of the area where they want to build the dorm.

Well, we do know the routine.

You show up to the office of the clubhouse pol, who got your attention by a show of concern.

The next step is for them to go back to the community after talking to the developer, for them to say that they feel your pain, but there is little that can be done, and most importantly, if everyone plays nicey nice, and doesn't go to the press our stir up their community, they will intercede on your behalf so you will have a say in the placement of shrubbery and color of the front door.

The community will rush to the compromise, relieved that democracy once again triumphs, and any remaining hotheads will be branded loose cannons, and cooler heads will stand with the developer and politician, beaming for a photo-op before their 'work.'

along with that pscho gunman the cops should've also cuffed and carted away St John's tyrannical president for his plans to destroy the lives of those in the community he's seized.

And don't forget to cart away his pet ostrich, Joseph Sciame.

The most odorous display of immorality came from the university President who played Clinton-like semantic games with residents who questioned if Saint John's planned to construct dormitories.

Naturally, the lie dissolved later on with the explanation that it wasn't St. John's plan to build, but to occupy what the developer planned to construct.

The stench from the mouth of a Catholic President of a Catholic University (where 3 members of my Catholic family attended) is sulfuric.

Zone Saint John's out of the Dorm business!

Joseph Sciame, St John's VP:

"In his current position, he interacts as a key University representative with various community groups and organizations surrounding the University campuses."

- source St John's website

by interacting do they mean that he thumbs his nose at community groups surrounding the University?

Joe Sciame begins to resemble, at times,
an old silent screen movie character....
perhaps a grand inquisitor ....
exhibiting an attenuated grimace
of discontent.

Yet at the same time he possesses
an almost gentle countenance.....
which might unexpectedly blossom
into a reticent smile....
exhibiting a radiance that suggests
the holdings of supreme power.

On occasion,
you may catch the sense of a cold grin
fixed upon the back of your neck
then abruptly turn around....
to be surprised by his piercing gaze.

This inscrutable expression concludes
with the raising of his upper lip
revealing a fence of perfect incisors......
glowing with the patina of fine old ivory .

B-r-r-r-r....what a scary movie !
