Scarano stop work order?

City Lawmaker Seeks To Halt Work by Builder

A City Council member of Brooklyn, Bill de Blasio, is calling on the New York City Department of Buildings to halt work on all projects by architect Robert Scarano today, saying Mr. Scarano should not be allowed to build while under investigation by the State Education Department for professional misconduct. Mr. Scarano has repeatedly violated the city's building code, Mr. de Blasio said. Mr. Scarano, who has built hundreds of properties in the city, had no comment yesterday, a woman at his office said. She would not give her name.

The Buildings Department revoked Mr. Scarano's ability to certify his own permit applications in 2006. A spokeswoman from the department said the department is not legally allowed to halt work based on an architect's history.

Scarano was the architect for Bangladeshi Plaza in Jackson Heights on 73rd Street. This building is completely unsafe. There are 36 violations against this property. This man belongs in jail.
