Council Rides Over Pedicabs

By DAVID SEIFMAN, NY Post

April 21, 2007 -- In an unusually harsh attack before a City Council committee voted to override Mayor Bloomberg on pedicabs, a Bronx legislator charged yesterday the mayor had insulted the council by vetoing a bill his own administration had supported.

"For the mayor to have vetoed this legislation after his representatives firmly supported this legislation without even having to come to any kind of compromise - if he personally, suddenly, developed some kind of negative feeling about it - is simply insulting," said Councilman Oliver Koppell (D-Bronx).

Bloomberg had unexpectedly vetoed a bill setting a limit of 325 on the number of three-wheeled vehicles.
