Scores of big rigs have been camped out on a Queens roadway, and residents are crying foul. Erica Byfield reports.

With the influx of Chinese into my Queens neighborhood, we now have a problem we never had before. I am seeing a proliferation of mini buses, ambulettes, and shuttle vans being parked on my street, starting at about 5 p.m. and going until the morning. Each of these takes up 2 parking spaces in an area where parking is very difficult to find, effectively halving the number of available spaces. They are ALL Chinese owned, with Chinese writing on them. Furthermore, it ruins the look of the block with all these lettered commercial vehicles. I complained to Councilman Rory Lancman, whose staff member on the phone told me there were a lot of complaints about this from my street and other residential street residents. I have not heard back from Councilman Lancman about any action being planned. So far, there is a growing number of these eyesores all around the neighborhood. No one knows how to take over and ruin neighorhoods like these voracious Chinese, and no one knows how they are able to afford buying homes and co-ops in CASH.
Drivers of big rigs can only drive a certain amount of time in a 24 hr period. The government is very strict and logs are kept electronically, no fudging. Trucking companies will now have to find legal parking( impossible) or add more drivers. Don’t bitch when almost everything you purchase goes up in price....
And to add to the above, no one knows how they are then able to get on Food Stamps, WIC and Medicaid--flash the card at Walgreen's while I (born here, worked here all my life, still paying taxes all my life) wait to get ripped off by Medicare Part D to pay for prescriptions I must take to maintain health in my "later years". DISGRACE!
The problem has nothing to do with Chinese - we have the same hassles - but our ambulette company is Russian, our vans are Mexican, etc. Point is: we need ENFORCEMENT!!! Ambulettes are "for hire" vehicles. As such, they require base livery licenses (which are reviewed by local Community Board!!!!) - that is TLC, not NYC DMV livery plates alone. None of the Agencies concerned give a damn - and none seem to have any awareness of the NYCRRs they are supposedly working with. Kinda like those 53' trucks - Dot does give permits for delivery of a SINGLE load to a SINGLE drop point (yeah, right) but they have NO IDEA how many they've given out.
Lancman is a powerless Democratic Clubhouse putz! AND...everybody knows we are not to offend the Chinese. They filled up the area , thereby preventing the "darker troublesome minorities" out.
It's ALL about protecting real estate interests in the area. Blacks or Latinos would downgrade the real estate prices. Barely hidden racism!
I see the Chinese commercially-used vehicles I described above bearing different types of license plates: livery, bus, and passenger. Passenger plates for a mini bus with clear commercial writing on the side! As written presently, the law states vehicles with COMMERCIAL plates cannot park overnight on a residential street. How about these vehicles, clearly used for commercial purposes, having anything BUT commercial plates and thus taking up precious parking spaces on blocks where parking is already hard to find? Why do these oversized shuttle vans and ambulettes get livery licenses and not commercial licenses? Why doesn't the law prohibit the oversized livery licensed vehicles from parking overnight on residential streets?
Goods for us ? People in Queens are ordering 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster's these days ?
Survey: NYC Queens and Detroit are top three worst-Run Cities In the country. And of course nobody dare put this on the news and upset the Mayors office
Remember the citizens of this city don’t want any type of enforcement. Keep voting for Deblasio and stuff like this will never get resolved. Remember Asians are just another poor minority getting harassed by NYPD, TLC, etc. welcome to 2018, Enjoy!
"I have not heard back from Councilman Lancman" Sadly, you probably won't hear back until he's running for election. City Council staff are notoriously young, immature and underpaid, so they have no motivation to pursue this. The neighborhoods are on their own.
You can thank Mayor Bloomberg and the Port Authority for this mess. Bloomberg gave away prime real estate on Rockaway Blvd between Guy Brewer and Farmers Blvd. Instead of a Truck Stop he put up a car impound lot. The Port Authority has the land - but instead rents a good size parcel to a School Bus Company - because that's a perfect fit for the Cargo Section of the Airport. Cuomo needs to get involved because he can move the Port to do something.
Last time I checked the current asshole in charge (for the past 4 years) is Deblasio, not Bloomberg. He is clearly not interested in helping New York City with anything, much less truck parking. Don't worry though, only 8 more years to go, right?

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. Lancman is too busy decriminalizing turnstile jumping and potsmoking. He needs the votes. He needs a paycheck.

We do know - the cash comes from the Chinese government.

I hear that in 2020 it's gonna be DiBlasio/Lanceman for President/V.P. Then all NYC's and America's problems are solved. Keep electing Democrats NYC.
