From the NY Post:
Gambling interests have spent more than $2.5 million on lobbying over the past year -- with the lion’s share coming from firms representing the state’s nine track racinos, including Resorts World, which just opened at Aqueduct in Queens, records reviewed by The Post show.
And the amount paid for lobbying services could easily double next year as the racinos launch a campaign to persuade the state Legislature to revise the state Constitution to permit Vegas-style casinos, while others oppose it.

These lobbyists earn their keep for all the sides they are on. Casinos took 30 years after AC to get here - NYS is on incredibly knuckle headed place to do business and lobbyist have been in those trenches for years arguing their case.
The one thing I don't agree with is former office holders who have the inside skinny becoming lobbyists. A former POL should be banned for life as a lobbist in NYS.
I find it funny the Indians are fighting the new casino regulations in order to protect their precious holy land (and casinos)
Time to buy some bars and apply for cabaret licenses.
(for the dancing girls)
This is already going on in Woodhaven and Ozone park
When NYC & NYS are completely broke you can bet they WILL pass full casino Gambling
NYS & NYC lost lot's of revenue to casinos everywhere else in the world. It could have been tourism coming here with gambling as an amenity, instead of an out flow of cash.
