Eastern Queens buried
"72 Hours Later in Springfield Gardens (Picture says it all)" - Donovan
It is 8:30 PM Tuesday - nightime in Glen Oaks - this is what is happening right now. A wall of snow was left by City Sanitation blocking access to 249th Street just off Union Tpke.
2 Buses Stuck & Bus Stuck: Major intersection of 260 Street and Langston Avenue, 2 buses are trapped and can't move. This blocks nearby access to LIJ Medical Center which is adjacent to Glen Oaks Village
1 Access-a-ride bus is stuck at another intersection
Earlier today - Fire Battalion Chief Car gets stuck in Glen Oaks as he travels behind a Fire Truck. The streets have not been plowed here.
City Sanitation Plow Truck broke down on Little Neck Parkway and needs to be pushed by another City Plow Truck.
On Monday afternoon an LIJ ambulance was stuck in Glen Oaks Village and had to be towed out.
However, I am happy to report that Councilman Mark Weprin and Assemblyman David Weprin's streets in front of their homes have been plowed to the asphalt.
I called Dist 13 sanitation a few minutes ago, spoke to the foreman and begged for snow plows tonight in our community. I will keep my fingers crossed.
This is a SNOW JOB and there is no accountability, only excuses.
Thanks
Bob Friedrich
President, Glen Oaks Village

Just saw Little Neck again this morning.
Its unreal how it immeadietly turns into Siberia at Nassau Road (The Nassau Queens border)
People are really pissed !
All of North Hempstead is plowed and they only have 4 or 5 trucks for 53.6 sq miles !
The NYC Mayor should be jailed for treason and gross neglegence with the lives of 6 million people living outside Manhattan.
Fed up old people are digging out and haveing heart attacks in the street. Emergency cant get to them and you cant get to a hospital without a helicopter
The voters in the Glen Oaks section of Queens made a profound mistake in not electing Bob Friedrich to the NYC Council or the NYS Assembly. Lindsay had the snow of 1969...Bloomberg has the Blizzard of 2010. And the dynastic duo of pater/fils inheritance continues in office while Glen Oaks residents remain stranded.

Petition to impeach Bloomberg but also insight in to why Quinn, Thompson and Stringer should not run for mayor.
Petition for a recall of the election. It's the only solution. The election was fixed, Bill Thompson was a placeholder to just simply blow the election. His wife received money from Bloomberg. It all stinks. He may have 17 billion dollars, but he only has one vote. We have millions. Use them. Get a petition, let's get a recall, find a rich guy to run against this asshole and give him a pink slip.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO FUCKING BEG THEM?!!?!?!??
Al Qaeda is watching. No? Death by the 1000 cuts.
Crapper,
Great job on the new header photo.
I snicker everytime I look at it.
slowdown tactics by the DOS union being blamed on the mayor - mission accomplished I suppose.
Ve vill bury you!
"slowdown tactics by the DOS union being blamed on the mayor - mission accomplished I suppose."
You sir are a knucklehead.
I live in Glen Oaks and I saw 3 buses and multiple SUVs and cars stuck throughout 260th Street yesterday. It was horrifying.
This morning- saw a sanitation truck salting the main road, but passing by all the unplowed sidestreets.... still waiting.
I live in Glen Oaks and almost got killed walking in the Streets ALONGSIDE A 70 YEAR OLD WOMAN because Glen Oaks didn't shovel their sidewalks.
I'm pretty sure that's Bob Friedrich's job.
what about the streets where Avella and Stavisky live? where they plowed right away?
The person most responsible for the blizzard fiasco ... is Suzannah B. Troy!

Snow job? I thought she said blow job!

Just for the record. By the end of Day 2 all sidewalks, courts, driveways and stoops in Glen Oaks Village which consists of 134 builidngs and 3000 families was cleared by our hardworking crew. In addition, our crew shoveled out many residents who had medical appointments. I am very proud of our snow removal efforts. At the end of Day 3, still no City Plows in Glen Oaks Village.
Bob Friedrich
President
So this appears to be the new Queens Blizzard trend:
Plows come into Queens , plow the street, then 5-7 more follow within the hour!!
Well I say TOO LATE. WE want a tax REBATE for LACK of SERVICES.
Alfredo Centola
To say this city was ill prepared and underestimated this storm is a understatement.
Along with the Mayor as are all City council leaders and borough Presidents - where are all these folks - pointing at each other and we are made to suffer and some have died due to this mess. Yup, everyone dropped the ball and not calling an emergency early when weather reports everywhere fore-casted major accumulations.
Impeach them all!
I vant to ride mein byzikle. Hahr-hahr. Now the shtreets are klean?
Let me explain something to you folks. The people in the rest of the borough don't give a shit about what happened inside your private complex. We care about the City's response to the storm. If you have an issue with the co-op, send them a letter or bring it up at the next meeting of their board.
Queens Crapper
When you provide a forum to a political candidate who also happens to be President of a Co-Op in Queens, you should expect readers to comment on the inconsistencies of the candidates statements with the reality of what he has or has not accomplished. How else will we find someone better than the Weprins and Staviskys to represent us. Contrary to what you believe, the rest of Queens is interested in what happens in Glen Oaks and all the other neighborhoods of our great borough.
I am interested in what happens in Glen Oaks as well. The neighborhood, not the co-op.
And he is not reporting this as a political candidate. He's reporting this as a civic leader. I know it's hard to tell the difference sometimes when pols pretend like they give a shit, but he's been doing this for years, not just during election cycles.
I agree with Queens Crapper. Friedrich is no longer a candidate, but he is a civic leader as President of Glen Oaks Village co-op. Do all the commenters know that civic leaders are VOLUNTEERS? If anyone, in any neighborhood or co-op is unhappy with their civic leaders, they are free to get involved and run for that volunteer position themselves!
This is what Bloomberg and cronies want. If everyone digs out, there is no need for city services. This justifies the cuts and makes Bloomberg look like a financial genius for managing with nothing.
Snow removal in Glen Oaks is just as important to people outside of that particular development as is what happens to St. Savior's Church or juniper Park, yet you don't seem to have any problems posting about those neighborhoods.
I posted about snow removal in Glen Oaks. That's the post you just commented on. What happens in the private areas of Glen Oaks Village, I don't care about.
