Today we announced the expansion of our citywide carshare program. This 5-year pilot (really, aren't pilot programs usually a few months?) has proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions & personal car ownership. Our ambitious goal for 2023 is to add several hundred more spaces by working with Zipcar, Getaround and TruqIt
DOT Figurehead Commissioner and private car owner and public parking space user Ydanis Rodriguez: “Convenient access to carshare frees New Yorkers from the burden of car ownership – while helping to fight climate change. Thanks to Mayor Adam’s support, we will build on the successes of our pilot program while supporting efficient use of space at the curb.”
Over the next two weeks, we will install signage for 80 new, dedicated curbside parking spaces for carshare service. Spaces will be installed in Brooklyn and the Bronx starting today, with site installations in Queens taking place next week.

Just take your plates off when you park there. The traffic agents walk right by cars with no plates and they never tow them. Works perfectly.

This is also know as a Trojan horse program, that was first done in Holland to eventually get private owned cars off the streets unless you are a doctor or some kind of public servant
I said here in the past the progressives lunatics would eventually come for all private owned car ownership unless private owners shared.

Issue 3 (the big issue with this):
Since all these new social programs prohibit discrimination who pays for the lawyer, exempts the cars owner from jail, forfeiture and total loss (auction) of the seized vehicle when a passenger shoves a gun or bag of fentanol, coke, meth, heroine, pills under the seat during a traffic stop or accident?
Worse if the car owner is jacked and fights back and hurts or kills some criminal bastard first?
Where is such needed implied immunity for the car owners in this socialist program?
The communist politicians and DOT ramming this Scandinavian style shit down our throats at gunpoint with no public referendum give implied immunity to themselves, why not us too?

Such transportation use would increase the car owners personal injury protection component of the insurance premium. Why put this huge social programs expense on the backs of car owners?
For all the poor or freeloaders who dont own cars:
(PIP) cover injuries to the driver and passengers, no matter who caused the accident. States like the New Peoples Republic of New York require PIP as part of their “no fault auto insurance”.
Such daily shared use would cause an $$$ increase as much as 50% and would require a minimum of over 1.5 million dollars per passenger just like cabbies and other commercial drivers must carry.
(In such a case a 200%-500% insurance increase for most who only carry the NY minimum of $50,000 each passenger PIP)
Lie to your insurance company's "me only for weekend recreational use " "I promise not to drive drunk" and they WILL fined out via the program itself or all the citys cameras and scanners !!
Possible not even cover you and your passengers in an accident because you violated the agreement by mis-representing yourself.
Why would anyone want a $6000 a year insurance premium or risk a 50 million+ dollar civil lawsuit?
This social program is going to cause trouble on all sorts of levels and I'm sure they know it. It also may only be available for 4 door cars with proof off +5 million dollar PIP insurance. Its guaranteed to fail an only intended for street space grabbing and car owner harassment.

I feel bad for car owners. For decades, they got all this real-estate for next to nothing, and now it's being taken away.

If you have no plates and the car is valued over $1000 they tow and seize it.
What really bad about this is the language used is misleading to pass it off as "ride share" (carpool related like I believed in the post above) ..as if the cars in these spaces were to be exclusively used to transport more then 2 or 3 people to work. --NOT THE CASE !!
I had to go into the proposed signage and then research the owners, shareholders CEOs and what they are actually doing, and how they operate. Hey, these are carpet bagging PRIVATE CORPORATIONS, BUZZARDS some based in San Fransisco California and others not from New York. Since when can the New York State D.O.T become a real estate broker, mortgage company with taxpayer dollars and property?
What you have here is private commercial car & truck rental illegal handed public property to operate on for profit. It may as well as be reserved for Enteprize, Hertz, U-Haul, Home Depot, private cab stands, car sales, food trucks, carnival rides etc..
The city and DOT without question failed to describe this properly to deliberately mislead people. If challenged the DOT and city could very well lose in court.
The city and DOT misrepresented themselves to ram this through and that's also illegal an loaded with special interest and nepotism.
I'm sure several big lawsuit are coming, including from the big car rental company's who were locked out.

Just to add. It't time that a lawsuit is filed to remove all cars, trucks etc. that are stored for free on our streets. What gives them the right to such valuable real-estate? Get them off the road!

Many working poor people are complaining there is not enough affordable housing here in NYC.
Small dictator groups like many real estate firms and developers have hijacked the housing industry and donated to politicians to build housing for those who can afford to live here like billionaires, millionaires, foreign investors and receive huge tax breaks to do it too.
Yet many single- and two-family homeowners have to pay higher property taxes every single year and do not receive the services they expect when they vote for politicians who only meet with them when election time comes around. They make false promises to them but

Leasing it out to a corporation is far from the best use of this public property. Leasing out parking spaces at the current property value rate would be a much better idea.

No, if any CEOs or lawyer can’t live on 10 million dollars a year the F_ with them. Most of these people actually pocket over 200 million and don’t pay taxes. This has to be fixed or most of use are going to lose our social security.
I just got a letter from Social Security putting me on notice Ommibus Bill Bidon signed I will not be seeing any of off the Social Securiety I put in.
For those born after 1960 you now will need 40 points to collect.
From what I understand these bastards are now saying Social Security will be based on points and not how much you contributed. As in 1 point for each year or each job you worked.
I had a success and only worked a couple years, sold off publishing, equipment, guitar collections, 2 houses retired having already put in over 120K in social security taxes alone. Have a big IRA, live happy off distrubutions, dont spend excessive, dont go to resteraunts and assorted bullshit, live simple and low key. Now these bastards are saying I only have 4 points and will be receiving ZERO Social Security return.
