Eric Ulrich has resigned from his position as city Department of Buildings commissioner, the Mayor’s Office announced this morning.

The move comes after Ulrich, formerly a three-term Republican councilmember representing District 32, reportedly became a focus of a criminal gambling probe by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. He was tapped by Mayor Adams in May to lead the DOB after serving as a senior advisor for the administration.

“This morning, Eric Ulrich tendered his resignation as DOB commissioner in an effort to, in his words, avoid ‘unnecessary distraction for the Adams administration,’” Fabien Levy, spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office, said in a prepared statement this morning.(Sure Fab, when Mayor Adams throws you under the bus at least he leaves you with some dignity-JQ LLC)

He continued, “We have accepted his resignation, appreciate him taking this step, and wish him well. We have no further knowledge of any investigation and, out of respect for his and his family’s privacy, have nothing further to add.”

In the meantime, First Deputy Commissioner Kazimir Vilenchik will serve as acting commissioner and no city services will be impacted, according to the statement.

Ulrich was reportedly approached near his home in Rockaway Park by investigators with a search warrant on Tuesday, according to The New York Times.

The scope and focus of the investigation are not yet known but outlets have reported that, according to sources, the conduct relates to his time in City Council, not in the DOB, and involve debts racked up during back-room card games.

One less Trumpanzee running the city.

Strikes a chord "We have no further knowledge of any investigation" and sounds very familiar.
As of March 2019, nearly $850 million in funding for McCray's mental health program was unaccounted for; furthermore, the program was on track to spend $1 billion over five years.

His endorsement isn't worth a warm cup of spit, as he drives away in his clown suit with his clown car, off to his clown casinos.

Everyone Knows Rockaway is controlled by the Mafia.

Just ask the NY Assembly member who's office is on Rockaway Beach Boulevard. Strange how the tenants in the building where this Assembly member has their office can never get any HPD or DOB inspectors into their apartments or the building to cite for housing code violations. Must be a coincidence? Right.

I'm sure if the former DOB Comish heard his neighbors didn't have heat, hot water or had bed bugs, he'd come running to help right? What a guy.

You might want to ask them about the Queens housing court judge who has an apartment in the same building as this Assembly member's office. Oh boy these coincidinks keep adding up.

The Rockaway Beach assembly member likes to make life difficult for the elderly and disabled in wheelchairs, by parking their official cars on the sidewalk. They take up the entire sidewalk. Mafia? oh no, there's no more mafia.

After Hurricane Sandy, Eric's office moved but he didn't have any time to let his constituents know where it was or the new phone number until two years later. He must been busy losing at cards. What do they say? Unlucky at cards, lucky in love? Good Luck former NYC Dept of Buildings Commissioner.

He might want to try the public/private consortium at La Guardia Airport. I hear those boys like high stakes games.
