Queens is taking the largest share of migrants into emergency shelters set up by the city — fueling what the borough’s president on Thursday called a “powder keg” of crises and creating a “recipe for a social and economic disaster.”
Queens was housing 4,782 migrants, or 32% of the total 14,777 placed in emergency shelters as of Wednesday, according to data compiled by the Department of Homeless Services and obtained by The Post on Thursday.
That share is more than one-sixth greater than the 27.3% that Queens residents contribute to the city’s total population, according to 2020 census data.
“It’s a powder keg in Queens at this point,” said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards.
He said the migrants were being sent even though “there’s not enough resources being pumped into the communities.”
“There are several crises. You have a recession coming. We have a lack of affordable housing, rising rents. We have food insecurity.
“This is a recipe for a social and economic disaster,” he warned.
Richards specifically cited “not enough bilingual teachers and not enough bilingual mental health counselors — even in Queens,” which is known as “The World’s Borough” because nearly half the 2.4 million residents were born abroad.
“It’s beyond ridiculous,” he emphasized.

Put them all in AOC district, she loves them all
The World's Boro ! The most diverse county in America.
Worlds Borough. Nuff said morons voted for it. People who spoke up about this diversity nonsense were labeled racist. Some were intimidated into silence, smart ones shrugged their shoulders rolled their eyes and moved.
Illegal immigration is a gift-Joe Potato
This is what you get with a Democrat one party State.
We need to roll back the state.
Every one of these problems are the result of the govt being way too big.
This place has been full of migrants for a few hundred years. Send them all back. Give it back to the original inhabitants.
Why do we have all these problems? I thought AOC and Caban and all the others were the answer to all these issues? Is it still Trump's fault?
It would be cheaper to put them back on busses and return them to whence they came.
Just wondering how many Q-Anon creeps are migrating themselves and their swamp trailers back here from the great mess of Florida?

Zero?
Not a new problem but, and old one.

Career politicians must go. This country has had problems for decades now and elitist career politicians, like Pelosi, have never been the solution to those problems. Once a politician is elected, there is a transformation for quite a few of them that takes place and they realize they now have a power over people that they never had before, (Cortez, Omar, and Tlaib are prime examples). Once they have experienced that power, their primary goal is then to retain it. They become political "royalty" who no longer necessarily work for their constituents, but more so for the lobbyists, special interest groups, Wall Street, corporations, etc., who will contribute financially to their re-election. There has never been a more desperate time in the U.S. that we need mandated term-limits...and on the individuals, not just the office.
We were FAR better off with Trump!!
People with working brains are sick of the small talk from politicians when it comes to immigration.
Makes no sense , it's bad when you walking by and pass a hotel and a bunch of guys hanging out of the hotel , so when you walk by it's uncomfortable, why don't they keep these people in Hochul, Pelosi neighborhoods, so they know how you feel seeing these guys hanging in streets.
