They've been using globalist terms and implementing those policies since at least Bloomberg's reign. Ever since the ruling lords of this city signed on to the Strong Cities Network, the Resilient Cities Network, and the sundry UN global warming/climate change/sustainable whatever green new deal agendas. All city officials including elected ones are now nothing more than mid-level apparatchiks carrying out policies and agendas handed to them by all the aforementioned, BlackRock, Vanguard and God knows who else.
They do whatever their overlords tell them and do not give even a quantum of a shit what any of their constituents think, say or want.
Just wait until the real fun begins after cars are banned and we're upzoned to insane population densities, sections of the outer boroughs "re-wiled" forbidden zones and we'll all own nothing, have no privacy and be happy eating our bug rations when we can get them.
Why? Because muh climate change, muh covid, mu other apocalypse porn du jour, and we're all a bunch of useless eaters getting in the way of our betters future utopia.
