Back to the early 1980s Flushing was no stranger to fire then. Tommy Huang was a “ strong presence” back then too! Not making any accusations here. Let’s wait and see what the insurance company adjusters have to say. Back in the 80s...arson ruled. Hmmmm! WHATTA DUMP...the downtown hub is. Overcrowded and underserved...now FIRE!
What OTHER disasters are just waiting to happen in this overcrowded , unregulated town? Seems the politicians are sleeping on their jobs or too busy accepting bribes to look the other way.
That’s why I stopped shopping in Flushing. Overcrowded , unpleasant, and now....DANGEROUS! Where’s the chamber of commerce?ππππWheres “One Flushing”? The proof is in the ashes! No show urbanization’s! Who’s running them?πππ
In October 1977 arson gutted Jahns on Main between Kissena and Stanford. The franchisee persisted that the arsonist and his employer go to jail, thereby preventing Bronx fires from spreading to Flushing. Who shall be as heroic, today?
I was always suspicious of the fire on Main and Sanford that destroyed the fruit and vegetable store that was there for many years. An Asian bank was built there.

“Forget it Jake. It’s Chinatown”.....from the movie with that name.
Save about 5 historic structure....let it burn then rebuild!
Nothing but an ugly bung hole anyway!
3rd world stuff...40 stalls?
That’s not a mall. That’s a crappy market.
Where’s the FDNY? Half of these type of places don’t follow fire code.

And this is supposed to be bad news?
Looks like a high-rise hotel would fit in there or maybe a bank or maybe both.

It’s the free market economy at work.
