An off-duty NYPD police officer was shot and wounded during an attempted
carjacking as he drove to work in the Arverne section of Queens last
night.
The 22-year-old rookie was shot at the intersection of Beach Channel Drive and Beach 62nd Street at around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Two men tapped on his window of his personal vehicle with a gun. The officer got out, and one of the men fired several shots, striking him in the shoulder.
The off-duty officer returned fire as the suspects ran away.
Responding officers rushed the shot man to Jamaica Hospital, where he was in stable condition and expected to recover.
When other officers from the nearby precinct caught up with the suspects three blocks away on Beach Channel Drive, one of the suspects fired a shot at them.

The upper crust of the NYPD is, of course, calling for more gun laws, when it's not the gun laws that are at the heart of the problem. When violent felons with years and years of past crimes are allowed to run the streets, gun laws do not apply to them. It's time that the good and innocent citizens of NYC realized this and did something about it. The judges and prosecutors turn the criminals back out into the community and the citizens shouldn't stand for it. Don't stand for it, stand up and fight back!

Law abiding citizens should be allowed to carry guns for personal defenseif they wish too. Its not only a right but a proven huge deterrent. You don't hear of carjacking's and home invasions, street robbery in Texas, Maine out west where citizens can carry.

I say return to jails "stop and Frisk" combined with firearm training & insurance, safety class diploma and guns for all law abiding who want to have them is the only 2 things that will curb and cull this problem.

I been hearing storys of gun parts being made on 3D printers and home milling machines.
All you need is a computer, the equipment and the files.
These guns are likely not precision, only good for close range firing a couple then throw away before they blow up.
I think cheap 3D printing & milling technology (made in China) has made it possible for the criminals to make crime guns, parts for ghost guns etc.
