No city construction permits had been filed at a Queens home where a 32-year-old man was fatally hit in the head by a dumpster door, city Department of Building officials said Tuesday.
The inside of the home on 191st St. near Northern Blvd. in Flushing was undergoing a “full gut renovation” when the door to a massive dumpster in the driveway popped open, striking a 32-year-old neighbor in the head, according to city records.
First responders found the victim pinned between the dumpster door and the house. He died at the scene.
A truck was dropping off the dumpster when the door popped open, police said. Jiangtao, who lived down the street, was talking to a construction worker at the site when the door hit him.
City building inspectors issued a stop work order, halting all construction, after determining no work permits had ever been filed for the construction.

I love how the media just calls everything flushing these days. Its like they just lump everyplace near flushing into flushing. Back when I was younger 191st was considered east flushing or Auburndale. And anything above Francis Lewis blvd was bayside. But anyway it doesn't surprise me that they had a stop work order and they were still trying to do work on the property. They will never track down the real owner of the property because the real owner is probably in China. So they don't care about stop work orders.
That's called a rolloff dumpster.
They mean the rear gate popped open, those are reinforced 1 inch Steele bars around 1000 lbs. with a grapple latch at each with a lift bar that takes a huge amount of strength to lift up to unlatch.
These dumpsters also require safety inspection and registration numbers
What doesn't make sense is how the door can end up against the house if the dumpster at the time of tilt was perpendicular to the home in the driveway?
They must mean the garage or the delivery was being done seriously wrong, including 2 safety pin at each end that are usually on a chain with a locking ring.
Those don't open easy !
