Schulman bests Gagarin - thank God!

Well folks, this one has flown kind of under the radar on this blog, but in the 29th Council District, Machine pick Lynn Schulman bested DSA's Aleda Gagarin, and it was actually the right call. I don't know how much info you have on the Gagarins - but they are bad news. Mel Gagarin is a frequent candidate for office (and it doesn't matter which one), and now the wife has joined in on the fun. Back in 2009, Mel was all about stopping overdevelopment. Last year, the former Weiner staffer called himself "a stay at home dad and community organizer" and ran a joke of a DSA campaign against Grace Meng for congress. This year, fellow fauxgressive Aleda was pimping hard for the real estate industry, pushing for legalization of cellar apartments and ADUs while being endorsed by fellow fauxgressives Jimmy Van Bramer and Brad Lander.

No, just no. It's also good to see an older candidate do well because the needs of seniors are being increasingly ignored by the social media superstars running for office these days.

Took 20 years, but Schulman finally won a primary. She ran for council in 2001 and lost to Melinda Katz. She ran in 2009 and lost to Karen Koslowitz. Been a Lesbian all these years, people knew but didn't care. She actually ran on it this year. Times have changed!

But 5061 inactive ballots in rank choice voting, that's more than the 4821 Gagarin got. Small miracle that Schulman got more votes than Gagarin. Hopefully there aren't 9 candidates when they run this in 2 years. And they got to redistrict with all the population growth and shifts.

Thought rank choice voting would allow Orthodox, Burkharan, and Asian voters to combine their votes, but pretty clear the RCV process limits that. Lots of common ground on the Kew Gardens jail, policing, street traffic & other issues. But unless you're near the top from the beginning, you're not winning. Unless you consolidate and field a unity candidate, you just can't win. JFC, look how close Gagarin got to winning.

I think Aleda is kinda hot. That said, yes her politics are awful.

Lynn C. Schulman is a liar and a disgrace. Her official job title (under Bill de BLASS-hole’s criminally insane canal of automaton sycophants) is longer than a Subway footlong. This obedient, City Hall vulture promises to help me with a serious matter that adversely affected my job & pension—even wrote me assured e-mails and gave me her direct cell telephone—before the Visigoths derailed all accountability that would have fixed the problem—and then, after months of personal assurances, she stopped answering and returning my calls—cold coward turkey style. That was in 2017–and the illegal activity, city and state corruption and sloppy cover ups continue to immobilize me and my family without regard—she’s a soulless coward of epic government fail—exactly like the padded cell bureaucracy that continually praises her unprecedented dereliction of public duty. Don’t ever trust anyone who collects a government paycheck, ‘SHEEPLE’—they ALL DEVALUE honesty itself—and, then they get rewarded and promoted in their wake to betray continued levels of public trust, with impunity. New York is the filthiest, most corrupt city in the world for which everyone else pays a soul-crushing price!

Aleda is good eye candy but nothing else.
