City Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer (D-Sunnyside, Woodside, Long Island City, Astoria, Dutch Kills) officially launched his bid for the Queens Borough President’s office on Tuesday morning.
“We’ve got a once in a lifetime chance to fundamentally change Queens politics forever,” he said in a launch video released on YouTube. “That’s why I’m running for Queens Borough President.”
Van Bramer is a term-limited decade long city councilmember. He will be up against a handful of candidates already filed to run in the borough-wide race including current Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. Richards assumed office late this fall after a special election to replace Melinda Katz, who left the office to serve as Queens District Attorney.
Van Bramer has positioned himself as a progressive option for the
borough-wide office citing his support for policies such as taxing the
rich and reallocating funding away from the New York City Police
Department.

"When we won this election, it wasn't in districts like mine or Alexandria's. And she's a wonderful member of Congress, I think all of our colleagues will attest," Pelosi, a California Democrat, told an audience Monday night at a London School of Economics event during a U.K. visit.
"But those are districts that are solidly Democratic. This glass of water would win with a D next to its name in those districts," she said, picking up the water at her table.

The only way to make a true transformation is to do away with the criminally insane "Democrat" party and the utterly useless, RINO controlled "Republican" party. My male friend said he voted for Jimmy cause his boyfriend would have been mad if he didnt.
I was already so excited when I heard Donovan Richards was becoming our Queens Boro president. The experience and leadership he brings to the table is priceless, and will help Queens become the most progressive and best run county in the country.
Now I hear Jimmy Van Bramer is running. Its like Christmas came early! His thoughtful leadership and progressive values has made the areas he has represented one of the best places to live and work in I'd say the world.
What a choice we have to make. Two of the best people of all times to run our progressive and diverse boro. I don't know who to choose. Maybe we can change the law so both of them can serve as boro president, and we can be in complete awe of their leadership and tireless work for the great boro of Queens!
