Shhhh the BLM and antifa like to graffiti and tear down statues. Just because this one is close to the 100 precinct doesn't mean they won't try it. Poor Bastard Dough Boys didn't even have warm or waterproof uniforms or decent boots. Look at the helmet. What do you think it was good for? once they got in the mud of the trenches and were gassed not many came back in one piece.
Besides that one incident at Queens Center which was halted by the NYPD and the silly protests that were documented by Crappy, there has been virtually no looting and vandalizing of statues in Queens. Some graffiti but not as extreme as in the gentry areas of Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Sad story about the Dough Boys. I took that photo because it's been there for a century. I didn't look at the time but I read that the statue was updated with plaques citing our nation's next wars and conflicts. Which are more sad stories.

I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.
The way things are nowadays the vets served for nothing. While they defended the nation against foreign enemies the domestic ones ended up capturing and destroying it. Sad.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap

That's not the Doughboy statue in Woodside. Where's this one?
That's the one in Rockaway Beach near where the Playland used to be.
