Death threat made to Flushing nursing home following revelation of a high amount of COVID-19 related deaths

An inventory of COVID-19 deaths at New York nursing homes released by the Cuomo administration Friday provides an incomplete picture of how dire the situation is inside the facilities, medical workers and elected officials said.
The long sought-after list of nursing homes and adult care facilities whose residents have died of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 only accounts for one-third of the 3,316 such deaths reported statewide as of Wednesday.
That’s because the new data excludes deaths of residents who were transferred to hospitals — and, in some cases, doesn’t report fatalities thought to be COVID-related where formal virus tests weren’t conducted.
The state’s data sheet says only “some” nursing homes reported the number of “presumed” COVID-19 deaths. Only one-fifth of the city’s 171 nursing homes were identified by name in the latest state data. Of them, nine reported 30 or more deaths stemming from COVID-19.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo acknowledged that the information might be incomplete since nursing homes self-report the deaths that occurred in their facilities to the state. “We only know what they tell us,” Cuomo told reporters in Albany.
But City Council member Mark Treyger (D-Brooklyn) said a lack of widespread testing at nursing homes is deflating the number of known patient fatalities because not every nursing home is reporting deaths where there wasn’t a confirmed positive.
The testing deficit also is clearing the path for introducing the virus from outside — because asymptomatic staff members have been allowed and even encouraged to work, he noted.
Treyger said he’s been hearing a host of concerns about nursing homes in southern Brooklyn, and called on the city and state to come up with an action plan to ensure adequate levels of staffing, protective equipment and testing kits.
“I believe the situation at nursing homes is much worse than what’s being reported to the public,” said Treyger.

There are NO waiting lists for “rent controlled” apartments. Once a tenant vacates it becomes DECONTROLLED.
Rent stabilized apartments are another matter.

NOT TRUE. It works on some patients and on others, it didn't work! Everyones systems are built differently. I've read alot of cases of where it DID work. As for the rent controlled apartments, I'm not sure about that. I do know that there are project houses in Brooklyn that are filled with fresh off the boat Chinese. A Congresswoman down there a few years back, tried to call them out for it but of course, she was called a racist and this Congresswoman was a black lady who was trying to defend all the poor black citizens down there who needed the housing.

It isn’t. There was a study based on race and their percentage of the population and their infection rate.
Asians were the least. Asians traditionally don’t kiss mouth to mouth. They take their shoes off when entering the home. Latinos has the highest rate of infection and Blacks came second.
What cover up? By whom and for what when Asian Americans are attacked through out the country.
How quickly the Italians, Irish, Jewish immigrants that were seen as diseased and inferior to the Native white Americans is soon forgotten by the second generations. Pathetic and disgraceful.
Where are the hotspots in our area? Queens and Brooklyn. Queens has places like Corona, Jackson Heights etc. as hotspots.

Massachusetts Chelsea with high Latino immigrants have been in the news due to high infection rates.
The Wuhan virus naturally mutates and scientists discovered those infected in NY were not from the strain from China like in Seattle but from Europe.
I had thought Chinese Americans coming back from China would have been the main disease vector but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Most Chinese and Kirean immigrants may not necessarily have the resources to go flying back to China to visit the old country. How many Italian, Irish, Jewish immigrants had the resources to take a ship back to Europe?
Maybe they have such lower cases because they can comprehend the Chinese language and use Chinese social media and learned to wear masks, keep their distance, after keeping up with the virus in Wuhan.
I saw Asians wearing masks long before it was mandatory in Queens. The Japanese wear it as a form of courtesy if they have some illness.
That’s also part of their hubris that they are super hygienic and didn’t have a lockdown nor test, track unlike South Korea, Taiwan and now Japan has the entire country on lock down as Tokyo’s medical beds were already maxed out in a news report a few weeks ago. It’s not fun when reports have sick people trying to gain access to a hospital as one by one the ambulance is told they can’t take anymore patients.
Cuomo did the right thing by building as much beds he could muster based on models.

Brilliant Democrats of NYC have all the answers on every public issue that's why the Red Chinese flu epidemic has had no impact in New York while deplorables in West Virginia and Oklahoma are overwhelmed with the virus.
