Cuomo estimates the new law will keep about 90 percent of defendants out of jail at least until their case gets resolved.
These offenders will also have the added bonus of a new incentive program in New York City — which will give released suspects things like New York Mets tickets and gift cards for showing up to court.

Worst Mayor Ever
The absolute stupidity of Dumblassio and Cuomo cannot even be remotely comprehended. Instead of slamming the hammer down on miscreants who abuse their privilege of being out in society by committing crimes and causing injury of one kind or another to citizens, these two nimrods free them to go out and cause further harm. Take, for example, that vicious Jew-hating black woman who screamed f---you Jews and then punched 3 Orthodox Jewish women in the face for walking down the street. She was arrested and immediately released without bail---and did the exact same crime to another Jewish woman the next day. You have to consider this a tacit OK by these 2 idiots to go ahead and commit such crimes. Not only are they seriously endangering the public with their long list of "crimes they don't consider crimes", but they ALSO want to fete the criminals with tickets to athletic events, money, etc. as an "incentive" to attend their own court hearings. This is INSANE!
I don't see a problem. Everyone voted (or didn't bother to vote) for the politicians who enacted this.
In fact I predict in the next election these same politicians will all be reelected. So its obvious that this is what everyone wants.
You can’t blame the politicians when they were voted in by the people. This is what the people want. This is what the people get.
Sadly, it was the State legislators who passed the stupidity.

Every reader here must forward this story to all their family, friends and co-workers.
November is comming and voters will have a chance to elect people to change this law.
Other thab the ballot box moving is the only other option.
Happy New Year Crapie and to all the readers here on Queens Crap !
Democratic policy is so bad that anybody who votes for a Democrat now is crazy.
I don't see "Mopery" on that list!
If you Vote for any Demorat in 2020 you are committing DEMICIDE !!!
GIANARIS HAS GOT TO GO!!!
Good. Now fill the empty cells with crooked judges and politicians
We're going to need more cells
You got what you voted for. Congrats dumbocrats!
I guess this is what they mean by progressive!!! And those Jew beat downs? That’s just an oppressed minority striking back at they perceive as condescension, aggravation, so of course, it’d not their fault. this is the mentality that governs is now... we’re doomed
I never thought I'd ever vote Republican, but the Queens D.A. election was a no-brainer for me. I rather have a former NYPD cop/criminal defense attorney as D.A. than a career politician who never tried a case in her life.
Too bad the voters of Queens couldn't see this.
Rent Gouging? But that’s how the Democrats fill their war chests
anyone else find it hilarious that bail jumping (multiple counts) is no longer punishable by cash bail?
Prior to this policy, people were still allowed out if they had money.
The only thing this new policy does is stop penalizing poor people and allowing people with means to be released pending trial.
The judge can still deny bail.
It seems pretty ridiculous that in the past one group of people could be released for no other reason than they had more money. You could be guilty, but have money and be out pending trial but later found guilty at trial.
Or, you could be jailed until trial because you do not have money, later found not guilty at trial and this person just spent a year in jail.
Does that sound like a just system? It is not.
It's a national epidemic, and disgrace! You're not alone on this one New Yorkers. "Small Town Guy here." Where I live, in a county of 25,000 people, a pimple on Co-Op Cities ass, our liberal, both democrat and republican county judges, are turning serious, meth dealing, felons, with violent histories going back years, lose, by giving them shorter and shorter sentences. A meth dealer with over ten years of felonies and serious misdemeanors was just sentenced to 18 months in a rehab type correctional dormitory, and could get out sooner if he's a good boy. Same, same, as you folks, but under the radar. Stand up New York. Don't take this shit. Throw all of them in Albany and Town Hall out on their asses. That is my intention out here in little town for our rotten judge. Good Luck to you.
Im a lifelong Queens resident and registered/union democrat. I never thought i would say this but Im voting for any republican, i dont care who it is, the democrats are now officially insane and lost the plot. They are destroying everything. I cant leave yet, but will as soon as I retire. Every one of my union brothers is voting republican even though the union leaders tells us to vote democrat. I hope i make it.... NY is completely lost.
I wish there were some NYers still left in NY instead of all these scumbags.
@Jim said...
Jim you and all the other thoughtless Dippy Hippy Liberals are wrong my friend !
If your a lifelong union Democrat then you and your party destroyed N.Y.
Stay demacrat,we don't need you NOW.
