Bayside streets are a lunar landscape

QNS

Residents are criticizing the poor street conditions in Bayside, as cars traveling down local streets run into potholes, large cracks and uneven roads.

Some like Danielle Chase, blame the ongoing sewer and water main replacement for the pothole hell plaguing the neighborhood.

“Most of the poor street conditions are due to the never-ending construction going on. 38th Avenue from the service road to 217th [Street] is a warzone,” Chase told QNS.

According to nyc.gov, residents can file complaints about potholes, cave-ins, utility damage and hummocks — roadway asphalt that has been pushed into a wave shape — online or by calling 311. But area resident Arlene Mordjikin said the complaints have not made a difference.

“Bell Boulevard between Horace Harding Expressway and 48th Avenue needs to be repaved. I’ve reached out to 311 since 2016 and I’m still waiting,” said Mordjikian.

They don’t fill all of them in especially if there isn’t an address given. If a 311 user gives an intersection DOT doesn’t seem to look 3 feet around to fill in all the potholes

What a shame. I left NYC ten years ago. Live in a small town a thousand miles away.
It's so peaceful and bucolic here. For three years they've been repaving our streets. This summer they finished. 100% repaving. Not a bump or a pothole anywhere. Have fun New York.

""It's so peaceful and bucolic here""

Unfortunately that would be a death sentence for most born New Yorkers
Sitting around looking at trees, having to drive miles to do anything, no hospitals if an emergency, eat frozen bagels would drive me friggan nuts.

Spent 3 days upstate in Ellenville NY, they told me to sit by the window with binoculars before sunset and see deer come out to eat fallen apples on the ground. After 2nd day I wanted to friggan kill myself.
NOT A VIABLE OPTION !!!

These people deserve it for voting Democrat every dam election.
They got the exact representation they asked for.

Why are these apartment, condo and tower people always near 90% Democrat.
A district with so many sec's 8s, condos & apartment buildings should be subject electoral votes just like states.

This area has a twin in Kew Gardens Hills. For some reason, Forest Hills streets are carefully manicured and feature plastic posts to outline certain crosswalks and intersections. I guess KGH doesn't merit decent streets like Forest Hills does. Neither does the Van Wyck, full of potholes and burned out street lights. I recently had to travel the Van Wyck south at night, while it was raining, and you could NOT see any lane markings. Most of them are largely worn away, leaving drivers to make their best guess as to what lane they're in. How safe is that? But Dumbassio has plenty of money to fund illegals and non-existent programs he steals the funding from for his prez campaign.

Last anon re:Kew Gardens Hills

I know what you mean. Van Wyck South has the most dangerous stretch of service road. Good thing Jamaica Hospital is right there. It will get even worse when the state shuts down two exits.

But the worse is Lefferts Blvd. For some dumbass reason, the city repaved the road from Austin st. to Metropolitan, but decided not to repave the steep hill road from Metro to 103rd ave.

Wherever you drive in NYC there are lots of bad streets and the sidewalks are not much better. The other serious problem is the lack of lines in the road. The other day I was on the BQE going to Astoria and there are stretches without lines.Maybe DOT has all their people painting bike lanes instead of making car lanes and paving the roads.

The streets overall are mostly undrivable. To drive the streets at this point you need a Jeep or something similar. It's absolutely despicable. Everyone I know has had multiple flats, bent rims, cracked rims, all because of the state our roads have been in for years now. The people who actually get up and commute to work to pay some of the highest taxes in the country are the people affected. The people who are getting free shit from us, not really. Its like taking a roller coaster to work. It's so backwards. The sole reason I stay here is because I won't leave my family.

This is years of mayor dumbdumbs ruling. Mayor dumbdumb doesnt have time for NYC, he is in other states campaigning for his presidency!

Remember Grummna Flxble. They all complained the chasis cracked. Well, it ran just fine in a lot of small cities. It was the road misrepair to blame.
