From Willets Point United:
A new video released by Willets Point United demands that the de Blasio administration act before a December 2018 contractual deadline, to protect taxpayers’ interests by reclaiming two acres of Willets Point property which the Bloomberg administration gave to Queens Development Group.
In the video (below), Willets Point property owner Irene Prestigiacomo explains the give-away of the two acres to Queens Development Group; the comprehensive development project which the property was supposed to facilitate; the court decision that effectively prevents that project from proceeding; the contractual provision that allows the City to take back the property under present circumstances; the lack of action by the de Blasio administration thus far to reclaim the property; and City officials’ fiduciary responsibility to taxpayers to do so before the deadline lapses.
Ms. Prestigiacomo asks (06:38): "As corrupt as this City sometimes can be, have we really reached the point where a developer can keep public property worth tens of millions, without delivering any of the project that was the basis for it to receive the property in the first place?"

A very good explanation given by the lady in the video. Thanks for posting - makes a seemingly muddy issue quite clear.
Is de Faustio having trouble coming up with funding to retake the properties after all the profligate spending he's done, which includes all the redundant city office staffers? Then I would be happy to give him the four quarters to repurchase the land back from those idiot Wilpons and Related.
Oh wait, it might have increased in value, so I would like to a submit a 2 dollar bill that I will never use.
GOOD JOB!
Hold their feet to the fire!
De Blasio & Co.are LAND THIEVES....pure and simple!
@JQ: a 100% increase in value?! Too generous...!
Hizzoner is related to Mayor Robert Anderson Van Wyck, who won City Hall in 1897, according to the genealogy company MyHeritage. De Blasio and Van Wyck have ancestral roots that connect back to the English knight Sir Thomas Boteler and his wife Margaret, both of whom were born in the 1460s, MyHeritage found. Bryan McLaughlin was a protégé of labor leader Harry Van Arsdale Jr. VAN WYCK & VAN WYCK 224 West 30th Street hello@vanwyck.net
Since they used imminent domain maliciously and did NOTHING for the benefit of the public, including not even 1 new road or sewer it should go back to the folks these pinko commie bastards stole it from.
If the city reclaims that property for the "taxpayers" they first need to maintain the infrastructure of the property and all the adjoining properties. What I mean by that is the city needs to get off its duff and
1) Maintain/replace the sewer system - this was not done when the "taxpayers" held that property. The city completely neglected their duties in this area. The sewer system collapsed in this area due to the marshy grounds and the city ignored it. I'm sure they will continue to ignore it.
2) Maintain/replace the roads - again the city ignored this in the past. The business owners at Willets Point repaved many of the streets before the hostile take over of this property. I'm sure the city will again ignore this.
The only way to get the "taxpayers" and small businesses back to Willets Point and get developers OUT is to VOTE for officials that want to see this area utilized by "taxpayers" and small business owners.
Why is DeBlasio ok with giving away land to people who aren't even his cronies, but Bloomberg's?
Once the Wilpon's get their hands on something they consider it theirs.
Watch, December 20th will roll around and the de Blasio administration will have done nothing.
Easy!
De Blaz wants some payback.
Whoa! That's some tough lady!
BRAVA! Kick 'em so they can't make babies!
