An icon of the Jet Age is poised to soar anew: The landmark TWA Flight Center at Kennedy Airport will reopen next year as the gateway to a swank new hotel that will give new wings to the TWA name.
The TWA Hotel, which is now under construction, is rising next to the original Flight Center, which is being restored to its "Mad Men" splendor.
Commissioned by aviation tycoon Howard Hughes and designed by famed architect Eero Saarinen, the Flight Center opened in 1962.
Hopefully,
Pepper the missing cat takes up residence there.

More airplane noise!
Where the hell is that placebo group "Quiet Skies"?
Playing with their imagined power?
LMAO!
Does ANYONE hear a reduction in aircraft noise in Queens?
Unless I missed something, how does a new hotel add to plane noise???
Why would you or anyone stay at a hotel at the airport? Mind boggling. All just for some nostalgic and aesthetic bullshit.
There are dozens of hotels a few miles away from the Howard Beach stop in Ozone Park. In fact there are two right next to each other by the ballfield by N. Conduit, a days inn and a comfort inn. Oh wait the comfort is a full time homeless shelter.
Nice to see some truly beautiful and innovative architecture on this site instead of the usual Crap.
More hotels. More overscheduled back to back s flights. More noise in the filled up skies!
Get it now, dumbo?
It will be turned into a homeless shelter in no time.
No airline schedules more flights because of a new hotel.
Got it? Dumbo!
.
Before you know it....homeless shelter
Tough sell-- who's gonna stay there?
Hey, JQ LLC, the reason why someone would stay at an airport hotel is obvious: business travelers who when they wake up don't want to get on a 1.5 hour train/cab ride. Like the many, many other airport hotels around the country and globe, they cater to business travelers. O
Last anon,
Got it. The thing is that a thousand hotels have been built in the past decade that I forgot about the business traveler demo.
I should have known that considering all those years watching mad men
