One hotel coming, another going
From the Queens Gazette:
Developers have filed plans for a 116-room, 16-story hotel at 38-59 11th Street, just two blocks from the Queensbridge Houses.
The hotel would soar 179-feet over the Long Island City landscape, with eight room on each of the second through 14th floors, and six rooms each on the two remaining floors.
Great location!
Also from the Queens Gazette:
A developer has filed plans to build an 8-story, mixed-use residential building at the site of a Holiday Inn hotel at LaGuardia Airport.
The 70-foot-tall, 173,909-square-foot building at 37-10 114th Street in Corona will feature 623-square-feet of community space, 92,217-square-feet of commercial space and 81,069-square-feet of residential space with 90 units – 10 of which will be located in the basement.

A hotel by the projects??!!!! Well, now the city and these hoteliers are not even being shy about their intentions to warehouse and profit off of the homeless and, in general, the affordability crisis.
I find it interesting that the recent spate of homeless hotels and new development for hotels is taking place where the biggest and fastest upscale hyperdevelopment has happened in all of the 5 boroughs.
How soon will a jet coming into LaGuardia in nasty weather smash into one of the new buildings in Corona and Flushing that are starting to surround the airport.
Oh wait! Probably won't happen. The dope from Park Slope will try to shut down LaGuardia and raffle off the property to the highest campaign contributor for affordable housing and a bridge to the soon to close Riker's Island which will host high rise condos and yacht slips for the super wealthy.
This is part of DumblASSio's campaign to turn all of NYC into one giant homeless shelter. Hey, see the homeless bums scratch themselves! Hey, see the druggies shoot themselves up right on the street! And right over here, ladies and gents, see the prostitutes stroll the street and solicit passersby.
Why is everyone surprised? High density zoned. Time to move or bear with it.
The plan for the Holiday Inn in Corona is hilarious. 623 sq ft of community space? 10 apartments in the basement. And 90 apartments no one can afford. I think Corona has enough housing as it is, why not stop and get people to move out?
It will be only a matter of time before the projects will be sold to the highest bidder ,for development with a sweet City view.
This is near where the guy rents camping plots & bicycles only it will cost you 20X more money, especially when the area becomes the next East Village.
Nobody I know can take dealing with those dam JMZ and L train's, the $2200 rents for a litter box in Ridgewood.
More then a down payment & mortgage to buy a house that in that area for those who buy now. I wonder what's happening with the burning man east festival in Flushing Meadow park proposal.
Love the way they house people who are homeless and most don't even come from ny to begin with. Meanwhile, those who were born and raised here and work hard here, can't afford shit. This city sucks. And mayor dumbdumb is the worst!

THINGS WILL NOT CHANGE UNTIL YOU ADDRESS THE CAUSE: CITY COUNCIL AND THE DEMOCRATIC MACHINE.

Oh man, that would be awesome. Too awesome for "Fun City", sadly.
A science festival like Burning Man and all the vintage and outlandish steampunk vehicles like in the "Mad Max" movies would be awesome. With todays technology it would without question be the best happening in Queens since the World Fair.
Those people are also environmental fanatics, they will clean up the park with not a gum wrapper or bum in sight. They even use self contained RVs with compost toilets.
Hell Yes to Burning Man Fest !!
Wow, this post has devolved from constructive criticism of hotel oversaturation to building false rumors of a hipshit festival in a public park that wouldn't have room for such an event and all the gigantic art projects it contains.
