'Steinway Park' all over again.

Only in Astoria would they use guitar and drums when the name 'Steinway' is mentioned.
Score another piece of Queens history lost and another piece of Queens crap replacing it. And there was no sense in perusing landmark designation because the LPC (lazy partners in crime) have turned a deaf ear and blind eye to Queens. Any comment from that dumbkoff aged borough historian Dr. Jack (off) Eichenbaum? We can't hear you Jack! Fughettaboutit. Dr. Jack is too busy kissing Melinda Kayz's ass.....lest she finds a new borough historian to replace that boring dope. Incidentally, our burro historian has gone on public record questioning applying landmark designation as a tool for preservation. You can frequently find him at the Queens Hysterical Society...,another useless anemic force on protecting our boroughs history. They run a little toy house...Kingsland. That st all folks. That's why I'm no longer a member.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve watched one historic building in Queens after another being torn down to squeeze 3, 4, 5 or even 10 attached units with concrete parking pads where a front lawn should be.
My neighborhood, Middle Village, has had almost every historic farmhouse torn down to replace with these new houses that are so ugly, you can’t imagine anyone could have such awful taste to build them.
The greatest loss was the 1712 Morrell family farmhouse. One of the three first families in MiddlecVillage, the Morrell played a huge part in the Revolution and events in Queens. It was unfortunatelybdamned by the deadliest threat in Queens to any old house. It was on a big lot. That is the kiss of death that has removed to historybof Middle Villagecad a farm town.
Landmarks couldn’t care to save it. For them, there is Manhattan and Nrooklynnand then the other places.

Why did this happen? "The Clique" (behind the councilman, community board, etc) favored a developer with shallow root$ vs Astoria's children, newbies, and old school - in short, the community. Now this guy is getting an award, perhaps because this picture, and the person behind it, is an exemplar of what Astoria is all about.
Why? Cause they say so!
What's next, an airplane flying over Astoria park trailing a banner saying "Hey Astoria! F U! Waddya goin' ta do about it?"
Queens-lowest respect for history of the 5 boroughs. Why?
I will tell you why. One day got into a conversation with a high ranking person on the board of a major civic group in Queens. He was bad mouthing Landmark designation.
I suggested that he should say those things he tells his neighbors to a civic in a district that is actually Landmarked.
He was startled for a moment, then his face contorted in anger. He knew he looked stupid but had no idea no how to respond. All he knew as that he will never let facts stand in the way of what a politician told him.
That is why you should do your own thinking Queens, and stop having someone with a different agenda than you do your thinking for you.
For your community, your family, yourself, as a citizen you have a duty, obligation, responsibility to form your own conclusions.
Folks, you got 75 bucks layin' around? If so, you too can kiss ass and "honor" as Man of the Year CALIENDO who will be building his crap design on the bones of the Dulcken house. All to take place next Saturday, March 24, at Riccardo's.
And pray tell who's doing the honoring? The ones who brought and continue to bring you the aesthetic destruction of Astoria, the Vallones and that Vallone family shill - the Astoria Civic Association. DETAILS.
You like what you see being done in Astoria? Come to Riccardo's and laud your heroes.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. Just like that. Speechless.
Betcha the next luxury condo building or hotel that rises there will "re-appropriate" the Dulcken name and history somewhat.

Eyagh, can you imagine yipsters giggling about how they "live at The Dulcken" years hence. ugh.
Perfect allegory for what is happening to all of Queens.
Astoria used to be a nice charming ethnic community, it was also moderately priced, now its a hipster craphole, Brooklyn Lite.
