Concrete company creating a big mess
From the Queens Chronicle:
Ozone Park resident Paul O’Neill has been in the area for decades and has never had a problem with the surrounding businesses — until now.
O’Neill, and others who spoke to the Chronicle, say concrete business Prime Ready Mix has been the source of a number of quality-of-life issues in recent years and it’s only getting worse.
The main complaint from nearby homeowners is the dust and sand that emanates from the business, located at 87-13 Rockaway Blvd.
The Department of Building’s website states one caller said, “There have been numerous amounts of dust and sand all over the place, seeping into homes. This influx of dust causes allergies and many people have gotten sick.”
Those who spoke to the Chronicle said vehicles, barbecue grills and other items have been ruined by the dust.
A man named Sean, who identified himself as the owner of Prime Ready Mix but did not give his last name, said in a telephone interview he’s doing the best he can to keep the area clean.

AND in usual fashion, SHIT will be done about this. Just more of the SAME OLD SHIT in SE QUEENS.
We know the drill
Where is the community board?
Where is your civic?
Where is the Queens Press?
Parking on the sidewalk, too. Nice.
Eh, I see less reason to be irate at the concrete guy hisself than the people who made the changes that allowed such a business to be adjacent to residences.
PS: That small corner lot should have never been a concrete shit storm, there are too many homes in that area, but it is SE Queens, so no one gives a shit where they put crap in that area, certainly not community boards, elected officials and even many of the residents.
If residents REALLY cared then shit like this would not happen, but in lower economic areas, high immigrant areas and black/brown people, they know they can put all kind of crap there and very few care.
At least when they put shit up like this along with waste facilities, they should be enclosed like a garbage with a filtration system as opposed to some open air shit hole.
Doesn't seem to be any homes nearby. It's got to be hard for a concrete company not to make dust.

Do you know how to read a map on google, there are homes right next to on 87 St and all around it. A little dust, you obviously have never had to live right near such crap. AND I am sure when those folks bought there homes, that shitty cement place was not there and should have never been allowed to be place there. THINK that would happen in certain other areas, NO.
And the killer is that most people that own these places live either on Long Island or some area in Queens where they do not have to deal with something like that next to them.
Why must people always stick up for such shit.
Its not just dust and sand, it also contains lime, calcium silicate, vermiculite and sodium silicate.
It all eventually causes Bronchiolitis, then BOOP which destroys the lungs if inhaled.
(cryptogenic organizing pneumonia) --Its a Nasty NASTY long suffering way to die. Its worse suffering then cancer because you smother and drown yourself to death.
-Gee
Seems like the EPA should be testing the air.
