Mayor de Blasio is still standing by his New York City Housing Authority Chairwoman Shola Olatoye — and channeling a president he doesn’t quote very often in doing so.
“As George W. Bush once famously said, ‘I'm the decider,’” de Blasio told reporters Tuesday. “Hold me responsible for the decision. I am responsible. She is the right person to lead.”
De Blasio has repeatedly defended Olatoye as the authority she leads has come under fire for years of failing to conduct lead inspections in public housing apartments — and for falsely claiming on federal documents they’d been done even when she knew they had not.

This motherfucker really thinks he's funny. Without a hint of irony and concern for the victims of his and Olatoye's oversight and deception, he is quoting past purveyors of government incompetence and corruption as a way to justify his heinous and insidious corruption. And also to justify all the enabling from his weak ass peers in his party as was the case of the notorious GWB.
He's become the political gangster he claims to be fighting against.
She has something on him. That's why he won't fire her.

Olatoye failed to do her job AND committed perjury several times. Why doesn't that get her fired?

BdB has parted ways with a number of his higher ups, but Olatoye he clings to bitterly, despite NYCHA arguably being the most flagrant source of scandal in his tenure. She must have something on him.
Olatoye is there because REBNY wants her there. She has pushed for private developers to build on supposed unused spaces on NYCHA grounds, like playgrounds and parking lots ,to build faux-affordable and market rate buildings so they can supposedly fund to fix all the dilapidation that has festered in the past 50 years and accelerated in the last 10.
